Well done Redbacks. We need some more stability in our batting line up, too many collapses.

Correct Bayman

Western Australia 211 in the first dig
Western Australia blew it after being 2/217 then all out for 295 in the second dig

Only at the Adelaide oval could you get a fourth innings the highest innings in a shield match, i realize that other grounds would have had that happen at some stage over the last 130+ years but you get my drift in that, that in itself is an impressive achievement

The 5 highest chases in SS history
Hopefully the source is correct

6-506 SA V QL ,
ADELAIDE OVAL 1991/92
I was there , rates as one of the greatest things Ive seen at the oval

7-455 VI V NS
NEWCASTLE 2003/04

6-446 NS V SA
ADELAIDE OVAL  1926/1927

7-435 VI V NS
MELBOURNE 1931/32

7-409 VI V SA
ADELAIDE OVAL 1924/25

So 3 of the BIGgest winning chases were at the Adelaide Oval

1992
Adelaide Oval
SA V QL

QL 334
BARSBY 79
HICKEY 4/96

SA  130
BLEWETT 34
CRAIG BILLY THE KID MCDERMOTT 6/58
I wonder what Lee and Bayman would have posted if this site was around then ?

QL 4/301 DEC
HAYDEN 80
SCUDERI 2/62
Not one QL batter had made a ton , yet could declare with a lead of 505

SA 6/506
BLEWETT 98
ANDREW DIGGER HILDITCH 137
JAMES BRAYSHAW
JAMIE SIDDONS 87 the coach now
HOOKES 3
SCUDERI 0
PETER SOUNDA SLEEP 97 NOT OUT
NEILSON 14 NOT OUT
MCDERMOTT 4/124

A sensational chase
The QL attack
Mcdemott
Rackemann
Rowell
Peter Who Taylor
Law
Border

Greg Rowell, a good SS fast bowler didnt play for Australia , but the rest did
Makes that chase a bewdy

After round 3

SMITH
0-34-17-22-16-14...103 @ 17.1
COSGROVE
0-6-4-63-14-65.......152 @ 25.3
FERGUSON
0-96-40-26-13-36....211 @ 35.1

Those batsmen need to improve from here on with those stats
Ross , Ferguson, Smith have made 5 scores of double figures each in 6 digs
In those 18 digs from those 3 batters , only 2 scores past 50 , that's disappointing

ZAMPA
33*-26-8-25-57-15 ....164 @ 32
Averages 5 less than Ross who leads the averages , and Adam bats mostly at 8

SA 1 win 2 losses, after being thrashed by Queensland
SA 205

When we beat WA, I still said we nearly threw it away.

The batting is deplorable, nobody seems to be able to dig in and anchor an innings.

Thanks to an average District competition where far too many average players make A grade level, thanks to T20 cricket being the "start" to many modern day cricketers careers / techniques.

If you can bat for more than 20 overs you're a star in 2 of the 3 forms of the game. Sad times.

they just keep changing coaches, captains but apart from that nothing much seems to change from the outside, so i wonder if behind the scenes there is too many having a say

Great decision to move Klinger on, wasn't it? Especially with such a strong batting line-up.

showing backbone for a change, this should be a stepping stone especially for the younger players with Jake showing the way......441 in a day it must have been great to watch

SA second on the shield table. Hard to believe really.
2 wins and 2 losses. But 1.7 points off being 4th.

Hard to believe but nice to see. Only having 1 draw in 12 matches is also unusual. Could just be a green tops to start the season abnormality.

Is it right that the Shield comp goes into hiatus until February?
Is this so the T20 Big Bash can happen in between?

Round 5 games on 6/12/2015
QL V NS
VI V SA
WA V TA

Round 6 games resume 3/2/2016
That will be close to 70 days without a SS game
As much as I like 20/20 BIG bash , this is too long a gap between games
The SS players who dont play BB or TM have only grade cricket in that period

Meanwhile our Test team plays Boxing Day Test, New Years Test, then Test matches in NZ on the 12th and 20th Feb.

So any players picked to come into that side will and can only be on the back of Tee-ball form.... Sheffield Shield 2015-2016 - Page 2 2548818497

Chris Rogers said last year he had to play grade cricket to get a hit while the BB and T20 circus was on. Nice story for the bowlers that they got to send a few overs at the Australian opener.
