Great effort by Redbacks to make the final, I think we should be the favorites to beat Victoria who haven't been in great form in the second half of the season.

this is the UBET market...........
Winner - Sheff Shield 2015/16 Winner
Bet Submit Win Odds Submit
South Aust Redbacks 1.36
Victoria Bushrangers 3.15
obviously this market is to win the shield which means it includes a draw for the Redbacks'

Re: Sheffield Shield 2015-2016
The way both sides have played this year a draw seems unlikely with Victoria just the 2 draws and South Australia no draws, having said this I hope South Australia don't start playing from the draw from day 1, I remember Tasmania about 4 or 5 years ago being about 0/25 at lunch going at less then 1 an over at lunch on day 1 of a home shield final, I think the redbacks play there best when playing attacking cricket so playing for a result would be the way to go.

To win the shield we will need to put together a good batting performance. We have too many collapses and rely on too few. We need Cossi, Head, Young Boof to bat well and the others to form partnerships.
Our bowling is superior but they need runs so they can attack without worrying about having nothing to defend.

For the final I would consider playing a spinner, being a 5 day game spin could play a big part on days 4 and 5, therefore I'd probably have Tom Andrews in.

Vics batting steadily at 2/161 at tea on day two.
Our biggest worry is whether we can avoid our usual batting collapse in the 2nd innings.
The Vics should finish about 80 runs behind at stumps tonight.

stumps day 2
S.A. 340
VIC 4/269 (71 runs behind)
i think the Vics are marginally in front at the moment, which group of state the selectors have it right ? S.A. with a pace attack or VICTORIA going in with two spinners ?
sadly i can see them spinning to victory but hope i am wrong

Great crowd down there today. Should Handnscombe been given out for what he did. Early wickets are key tomorrow

After head tossed the ball to the keeper. Instead he smashed the ball to the boundary.bayman wrote:Thiele wrote:Great crowd down there today. Should Handnscombe been given out for what he did. Early wickets are key tomorrow

That was very dangerous
Handscombes hit could have hit the short leg and caused an injury
Fortunately no one was injured

The Vics should finish about 80 runs behind at stumps tonight.
Currently 4/91, a lead of only 30 odd.
As predicted.

Re: Sheffield Shield 2015-2016
stumps 4/137...lead of 78 runs
controversial incident today, Mick Lewis the Vics bowling coach, is it the same bloke that got belted for well over 100 in a one day match several years ago in South Africa ? got his team penalised 5 runs for ball tampering
Weatherald 72 not out
Ross 30 not out
what baffles me is why we had a run out, why risk anything like that ?
hard thing to do but we need to bat all day & at the same time score at a reasonable rate or at least give the bowlers something decent to bowl at

Re: Sheffield Shield 2015-2016
SA 340
VI 399
SA 4/137
Stumps day 3
The babybacks refuse to give in
The Vics have had this game twice and let it go
VI 2/245 [399]
The visitors were going at a score of about 500
SA did well from that point to keep them to 399
SA 4/76 [4/137]
A lead of only 17
There was another 21.3 overs left b4 stumps
Could have finished about 7/130
Or effectively a lead of about 80 with 3 wickets left and 2 days to play
SA lead by 78 runs at stumps
6 wickets left
No seamer if Sayers is unfit to bowl
No spinner in the line up
3 players have kept SA in the match
WEATHERALD
66[61]
72*[159]
Outstanding effort by the 21 year old Jake
His scores this season b4 this match
58 +23
0+0
27 + DNB
ROSS
72 [108]
30* [54]
Came in at 4/162 + 4/76 in this match
Brilliant contributions under pressure
VI were on a hat trick when he came in to bat at 4/76 today
Just needs to make a BIG ton
13 SS digs for 4 half tons , its the perfect time for him to ton up
WORRELL
6/96 [34.2]
Quite possibly the most improved player in the SS comp this season
Game could be over on day 4
If the games goes to day 5 , maybe just maybe a SS win for SA

Re: Sheffield Shield 2015-2016
Pretty good effort this season by a young team.
Their problem is mainly the number of batsmen who get a start and a good score who don't go on with it. The 2 who have done so, Head and Lehmann didn't get going in this game.
Victoria had 2 batsmen who did go on and made centuries. That is the difference.
For next season, they need to find a spinner who can bowl out the tail.

Correct Lee
VI lead by 59 runs first digs
This is what the 2 top scorers both teams made first dig
66 WEATHERALD
72 ROSS
134 Total
111 DEAN
112 HANDSCOMB
223 Total
Both WEATHERALD and ROSS are currently in
Both have never made SS tons
But both , I would say , will make SS tons in their careers
Hopefully both on 29/3/2016
Lee , that spinner we need has been playing for Australia

Re: Sheffield Shield 2015-2016
SA 251
VI 2/95
VI needing a total of 193 to win
Could have been worse SA were 8/208
The tail did very well
Worrall 19 *
Opie 15
Sayers 10
Weatherald made 96
Was dropped on 95
Ross made 71
Holland 5/76
VI 2/95
Dean 54
Worrall 1/34
Mennie 1/27
Babybackboof 0/18
Head 0/1
ELLIOT OPIE
Elliot Opie 0/14 off 8 overs the unlucky bowler
He had 2 chances dropped in this innings of his bowling
In all 3 dropped chances in the 2nd dig
TRAVIS DEAN
Travis Dean 111 + 54 might just be the man of the match [unless Dan Worrall stars tomorrow]
First time Ive seen Dean bat
Not much back lift
Likes room outside off to cut
Did appear uncomfortable when Dan Worrall bowled a body line version at him
In one over I reckon Dan bowled 5 short balls at Dean
The equation tomorrow for Victoria
98 runs
Minimum off 95 overs
8 wickets in hand
For South Australia
Its 8 wickets
Left with a 3 man attack , very doubtful Sayers will bowl
Prob will have to bowl between 30-35 overs tomorrow
Opie, Worrall and Mennie will need to bowl all or nearly all of the overs to win this
The one thing that is a certain it will be Victorias game to lose
The pressure is on them now ...
