Or were there other factors involved as well, either way it looks a poor decision by the SACA
possibly, i'm not sure about that, that sounds like what happened to ''Rhino'' but that worked well for him, the factors i spoke of was ''Chuck'' getting in Botha & shafting Klinger of the captaincy & the reason Klinger left with another season to go on his contract after spending one season under Botha

Re: Sheffield Shield 2015-2016
Another Babyback in the making ?
Blake Gutsche made 214 not out for Woodville last weekend
He is the youngest player to make a double ton in District cricket
Boof was the previous youngest
Blake Gutshe 17 years and 29 days
Darren Lehmann 17 years and 9 months
Just maybe the current batch of baby backs could end up with a Sheffield Shield title before the 2019-2020 season

Should be an interesting game this week against W.A, Chad Sayers is back in the squad, Will see if batting can improve. The WACA seems to have been a flat pitch this year so a fair chance for the batsman to perform?

Re: Sheffield Shield 2015-2016
i heard from a source very close to the player Valente, 3 states have made him an offer & while he doesn't want to move he feels he has to in order to play consistent Shield cricket, he's been told he won't get picked when Sayers is in the team as they are similar types, Valente feels he's more of an allrounder than just a bowler & a text came through yesterday when i was talking to the source that he (Valente) made 85 in district cricket

S.A need 139 to win on the last day of the game with just 5 wickets in hand.

Massive win today!
However the season ends you have to say they've shown some real ticker this year.

not for mine, too many ''as per usual'' batting collapses

Not so sure about that, GN. Some of them certainly did today, but generally they've gone missing when opportunity arises.
Their batting is a mixture. Head and Lehmann are all or nothing, while most of the batsman get starts and get out in the 30's and 40's.
The bowlers have been terrific, but the lack of a good spinner sees sides putting on partnerships late in the innings.
Having said that, I wouldn't change personnel much. I think they're on the right track, they just need more application.

The last scenario given is incorrect
Been informed that in drawn matches , sides get 1 point each
Therefore if no one wins outright in the VI V NS match , the Vics would get 1 point to a total of 47.62
A WA V QL draw would get QL up to 46.66
This last round of games is full of intrigue

Great win By S.A Yesterday, still some poor shots in the run chase, talking of Cosgrove and Ross in Particular, Great Innings from Travis Head and well supported by Joe Mennie

Fantastic win by the team.
We need a spinner to cover for Zampa. In both WA innings their tail added lots. The batting once again left too much is left to too few. We cannot rely on anyone to consistently turn 20's into 50's to 80"s.

I think considering the age profile of the squad they have done very well. I stand by my comment, they have far exceeded my expectations this season.

Yes, with the young age of the team, they've done very well. My comments are directed at their lack of grit or judgement when they're in match-winning situations and find a way to lose.
they need to learn that quickly, young team or not.

Getting yourself into match winning positions is half the battle though. The finishing will come with experience.
The experienced members of the team have probably still been disappointing in those circumstances though. When the moment has been there for an older/more experienced batsman to anchor an innings or stop a collapse they haven't really stepped up to the plate I suppose.

Re: Sheffield Shield 2015-2016
Gn, the one thing we old blokes mean is this ''young team'', ''needs time'' ''promise'' etc etc has been talked about for the last 20 years, hell they got into commanding positions two seasons in a row recently to host a final & play in another & what happened ? the traditional meek surrender & in one of those years they had two chances & meekly surrendered both of them....................in defence i'll add they're definitely missing Fergusons' experience in the middle order
