I thought after a very fast finishing 2017 that Laird had recaptured the mojo with his lot.
But this season it was not to be. Maybe the movement of a lot of players had impact there.
But the memory of the dynasty must be starting to fade by now. I think 2019 is the make or break year for Laird. If reasonable success eludes the Dogs, you would have to say that it is time for a new message.

A lot of supporters believe a change shouldve been made for next season. Unfortunately Lairdy is very very stubborn and wont change the way we play.If we have a bad season and that will mean missing the finals then we have to make the change.

Definitely time for a change now, won't happen though.
The only solution that the club believes in is player turnover but too many leaving and nobody wants to play for us anymore.
Need a new face with fresh ideas.
Season 2019 already seems doomed.

sb & j74,
whether you are right or not surely Roy Laird has way too many ''credit points'' to simply be vacated from the senior coaching position because it becomes a bit harder, winning premierships at the strike rate that happened in the first decade of this century wasn't & isn't going to happen for the whole of the twenty first century
if you guys are old enough then you would remember the tough times & should/would be grateful of the glory days you had...........if you aren't that old & can only remember the last 20 years then you guys have been spoiled with the success in that time
now, if you got your way who would be the next Central District coach ?
i admire your passion

Seen the good and the bad and yes we doggies supporters have been lucky.
Credit points....how many more years of average performances before a change is required.
2017 we only made the finals because your team somehow lost the last 2 games against the bottom teams.
Sorry but the club needs to make the tough decisions now.

Turn it up, you would have to have someone better or better credentials in mind or you wouldn’t bother changing it....trust me I’ve seen enough stupid coaching appointments to last two lifetimes....so who would you be considering ?

LUKE BARMBY
Excellent defender has retired
Have followed milkys career as much as possible , he is a son of a gun !
Ive been impressed most times Ive seen Luke play, seemed to play good against Norwood
Will be hard player to replace at the club
On a profile done on Luke he was asked
If you were down to your last $20 , what would you spend it on ?
Lukes answer was Winx !

INS
MENZEL
PISANI
ROBINSON
OUTS
BARMBY
HATELY
MCLENNAN
NIETSCHKE
FORT
NASON
Troy Menzel an important in , I reckon he will prove to be a match winner in 2019
Darcy Fort , a massive loss
Luke Barmby will be very hard to replace
The loss of the very talented juniors , Jackson Hately [GWS] Jez Mclennan [Gold Coast] and Aaron Nietschke[Melbourne] is a real blow

I cant see Central District doing much again .This club needs huge change off field. A couple have been involved too long .

Butcher is an out I believe? Also hearing they’ve signed a pair of brothers from the Ovens & Murray league, one of which is a strong forward that should go alright.

Wont matter who we recruit if we stick with the way we have played the last few seasons. We play defensive football and 7-9 goals a game is not going to win games.Cant expect to score when you have no one ahead of centre on a consistent basis

Re: Central 2019....all discussions
Centrals have picked up 18 year old ruckman Tim Auckland from Tasmania
He has played 2 games in the SANFL
He played those 2 games for Adelaide
Adelaide had a few of their talls injured in 2018, and played as a top up player
Will Tim be an adequate replacement for Darcy Fort ?

Unlikely, Fort was a very good ruckman at SANFL level. If Auckland proves as good as Fort he may only be at Elizabeth for one season anyway.

Centrals recruited 2 Gowans brothers over not so long ago
Now they have enticed 3 Neagle brothers , Jaxon, Jydon and Matt
They have excellent breeding
They are the sons of the brilliant Essendon and Sydney footballer, 200+ game player Merv Neagle

Tim is not the number 1 target for the replacement of Darcy Fort.UncleHuey wrote:Scrappy wrote:Centrals have picked up 18 year old ruckman Tim Auckland from Tasmania

Should the player the Dogs are chasing be signed, then Tim may be playing second fiddle.

So if Tim plays second fiddle and we land the player we want where does that put Damon Robinson as well

Depth. Robinson would have been recruited, in my opinion, as back up to Auckland, should the number 1 target not be picked up.southern bulldog wrote:So if Tim plays second fiddle and we land the player we want where does that put Damon Robinson as well

Bayman isn't a ruckman big Phil, more of a ruckrover type, very athletic though.

Tim looks a very likely type, though. BP.
He's still very young, isn't he?
