Re: 2017 Broadcasting
In past years I have hated to go to Elizabeth, Alberton or Noarlunga to a lesser extent but still went, I will use the option of the live stream now. The cost for members is great. Get a membership, help your club and watch the games live. Good initiative.Country Cock ! wrote:Chambo Off To Work We Go wrote:Will that sort of deal keep people away from paying to attend games?
Probably will keep people away, but it sure helps with people that cant go etc, or simply don't wanna go anymore
Maybe they have made it to cheap

Yep. I look forward to explaining to my 95 year old grandfather (who loves his Eagles) how to stream a game on TV.
He used to sit in his lounge with a cuppa listening to a game live on radio.

ch 7 aside i feel for those in hospitals & nursing homes etc as they'll have no way of keeping in touch with their teams, yes families will help, however the patients/residents might'n know anything until they get a visit on Tuesday

My elder sister lives near West Adelaide and uses their facilities regularly so she became a member( good on her!) however she is a Norwood supporter.
Can she buy the Norwood live streaming on a West Adelaide membership?

No, I don't think so.CB10 wrote:My elder sister lives near West Adelaide and uses their facilities regularly so she became a member( good on her!) however she is a Norwood supporter.

She would have to also then purchase a Norwood game to get the Redlegsd games.

Re: 2017 Broadcasting
It probably has some merit on the surface.
But how viable it would be for clubs to broadcast individually, is questionable.
A collective approach is better which is what I suppose the sanfl is offering with this web streaming form of broadcasting.
However, in typical fashion, Rucci displays a very dispassionate view of the sanfl in this article. He left us at the door long ago, and I am not sure why he would even bother writing an article about the sanfl.
I find it annoying that the overall print media and even some radio commentators slant their comments from the view that the AFL is the only game in town and every other competition can basically just fade away or go and organise scratch matches and do not deserve any support from custodians above.
I just don't get why they can't subscribe to a tiered structure in football, where everyone can survive let alone thrive (Rucci's words inverted).
When these pundits offer such a view of the footy world, do they stop and consider where the kids start that feed this afl juggernaut?

Centrals have somewhat ventured a bit deeper into the You Tube space with a series of videos of Chris Jansen interviewing fellow players.

Re: 2017 Broadcasting
what gets me is that most of the SANFL clubs wanted the cows in the comp is because they were worried there would be no media coverage
so what is happening now
womans football got more coverage in 8 weeks than what the SANFL gets for a full season
p***** me off
end of rant

With Life FM no longer doing the SANFL, they've now moved on to the ice hockey, calling selected Adelaide Adrenaline matches and becoming their media partner.

Re: 2017 Broadcasting
the league really needs at least one radio station broadcasting. app crashing and delay between game and broadcast makes too difficult to listen when at a game so unless fans pay for a digital pass it can be hard to follow your team

Re: 2017 Broadcasting
I was coming home from Unley yesterday & nearing the end up f the afl match Gerard Whateley says something along the lines of "for our WA listerners they'll be heading to the east Fremantle v ? WAFL match at the conclusion of this match" good enough for WA to have radio so why can't we ? Because we have clowns running the show instead of the circus

app seemed to be having trouble again this weekend with the radio app crashing a fair few times. getting harder to get coverage of the games unless buying a digital pass.

The League are aware of the issues and are in the midst of addressing them and getting them fixed.

Real concern today with App constantly crashing and radio app not working for long periods at games. Did Digital Pass work at all matches?

I had no problem listening to the North South game over the web. Also well done to Andrew Marks for a great call on his first attempt.

No issue with the Central v Glenelg game that I was checking every 15-20 minutes or so.eartotheground wrote:Real concern today with App constantly crashing and radio app not working for long periods at games. Did Digital Pass work at all matches?
No issues at all with the Digital Pass, which is separately ran from the app, for all 4 of the games broadcast.

What about the games on the radio
Not sure about other teams Eagles have home game FM radio coverage
Haven't listened to
How do they do it if the sanfl can't or won't

They do it by using a blank frequency, despite not having the appropriate ACMA license or approval, as neither the Eagles or the SANFL are radio stations and therefore not classified as broadcasters.
Shouldn't be an issue next year, hearing there is a good chance it will be back on radio next season.

can i read into that, that the powers at be have realized that getting rid of actual radio broadcasts was a mistake ?
