Have you been listening every week, all season Hatchet?
There has been more callers involved, over the course of the season to date, than ever used before.

They'll list 15 or 20 callers but I agree, same 4 or 5 voices every week. Be more interested in the break down of how many games each caller has done, anyway, working out that the guys who know the players call more and those who don't, don't ( or at least shouldn't ).

Re: 2017 Broadcasting
have listened to a number of games over a number of rounds and booney is right, the same 4 or 5 voices week in week out, game in game out. sure, the odd different one is here and there doing a game here and there but it seems the same few most weeks, would be good to hear some different callers and opinions as just hear some too often and not everyone wants to hear the same ones all the time.

Re: 2017 Broadcasting
If hearing the same four or five commentators week in week out is an issue, then it sounds like the SANFL is doing pretty well in that department.
For me, I hear our best four or five commentators most weeks and it's a pleasure to listen to.
Would love (if possible) for a third special comments person to come in for every game to help provide a better insight than the play-by-play commentators who understandably need to follow the ball and might not necessarily identify certain game trends or coaching changes off the ball.

Generally most rounds the Stream Team covers 4 games. (Seven the other)
That is at least 8 voices, sometimes more with a trainee / special guest.
Given doubling up in a round is very rare and there are "4-5 same voices" doesn't that leave at least 3-4 "different voices" each round. ie about 50%
I don't know any other sports coverage with this diversity of contribution calling play by play ... please provide an example for me.
As for the inaugural question aren't there more SANFL experts out there who can do the play by play call? ... being honest the sad answer is no, Pickles and Bonz who do Eagles radio would be the only exceptions I can think of not part of the stream.
Every other wannabe commentator these days is AFL centric, finding passionate SANFL callers not so easy.

but wouldn't calling sanfl games be good practice & in turn the caller can have some background in calling when applying for afl calling jobs ?

Re: 2017 Broadcasting
I cant believe people get so involved in how good or bad the commentators are. I for one just watch the game, I am interested in the trivia but don't care what they a saying other than calling it. I really appreciate going to the game and seeing the replay or watching the game direct from home. Congrats to all that make this possible. The only issue is watching the game on my Samsung phone. I need training to make the screen rotate and show larger screen.

Does anyone know what happens with the digital pass for finals. I will be overseas and would like to stream the games when available. Does the normal seasons pass carry through or does the fact Ch7 will broadcast make the pass not viable?

Perfect, I assume posting how many games each caller has done won't be a problem then? It would waylay any concerns about hearing the same voices.
Thanks in advance.

Re: 2017 Broadcasting
i can't believe all the negativity about sanfl football commentators, the only negative thing about it is it isn't on the radio anymore & thus i can't hear it while watching games.....now if these callers who basically do it for the love of football & the sanfl decided that why bother because no one seems to be grateful & give it away, i'll bet most would then whinge about not enough air time & promotion for the sanfl
i say BE GRATEFUL

A bit of fun
After watching some UFC contender episodes
I feel all football should have callers like Snoop Dogg
Sorry but it's better than boring commentary

Digital Pass will cover finals.
Sorry Booney .... I don't keep track of exactly who does what game .. by the sounds of it there are some here who do though ... ask them.
For the record I will be doing about 15 over the minor round.

Thanks Phil. Hope to enjoy a good finals series o/sea if it works. Go Eagles.
Good point. Some more interested in commentators than the product. No issues from me.

Interesting statement my parents one 80 one 78 ( I think lol )
Do turn the sound off on crows games on tv and put AA on .
If you mention AFL Brain Taylor is an awful caller
Bruce leaves a lot to be desired
Sanfl I've only watched a couple of Eagles games on the 7 app on my Xbox once they were put up seems channel 7 doesn't always up load games weekly I've found

the lesson i learn from this is not to suggest feedback or constructive comment as it results in very defensive results, wont do that again in a hurry, better to say nothing by the looks

Well good news Hatch is that all the regular voices are having a mid season break this weekend ... it will be Don Cooper (who has missed about 6-8 rounds this season) and David Hutton (about 4th time calling) .... enjoy the variety
