Re: SPELL-CHECK'S SANFL STATS. Random facts: Questions answered:
And whilst on the Channel Seven coverage did my ears deceive me or did I hear John Casey say that Sturt are the third best performed team in the SANFL in terms of premierships won. I know that I am being anal but at best they are equal third with North, both have won 13 flags in their own right. It could be argued that North's two won in combination with Norwood in the war years would place them third but I don't know how historians would view that. If it come to a countback maybe North with 13 in their own right plus the two in war years might be in front of Sturt, but they are certainly at least level at this stage,

Excellent pick up by Spell_Check
My apologies for posting about the 13 goal nonity of 1985
I based my post off an excellent site that has it wrong on that particular match
I had been away overseas for the 1985 season , and didnt see any games
Rocket-rooster
Yes NA deserve at least equal billing with ST based on flag wins
Robranisgod
Ive seen footage of THAT Craig Balme kick
Oh dear
Craig was a pretty good kick as a rule

Re: SPELL-CHECK'S SANFL STATS. Random facts: Questions answered:
After last weekend, I think we can finally close off the final 5. (On my reading of the draw, for either Centrals or Crows 2nds to miss now would require a range of results falling favourably to Glenelg/Pahhhhhr 2nds including an upset of epic proportions, i.e. West Adelaide winning against a contender.)
This will mean that the final 5 has been set since the end of round 5 (given this year's weird draw, when all but two teams had played only 4 games). That must surely be the earliest in SANFL history, for the finalists to be locked in?
In a coincidence, this has occurred in the same year that the AFL final 8 has been hermetically sealed since the end of round 6, which must be easily the earliest AFL final spots have ever been settled, as well (presuming that North Melbourne isn't dislodged by St Kilda, which is unlikely). I expect it will probably break the old pre-1990 VFL record, too.
Both comps have had a 2016 which is fairly even up top, with a few clubs having decent claims to the flag. But at the expense of a big gap between the contenders and the failures.

It appears that under the final five system, 2001 is the winner - no change to the 5 after Rd 4 in a 23 round season.

Spelly, where would West's current percentage rank amongst the worst recorded by season's end since we've been using the current percentage calculation system? Thanks.

Very surprising but thanks Spelly. Yes bayman, we made a late charge for the 5 and then went all the way to the bloodbath.

Re: SPELL-CHECK'S SANFL STATS. Random facts: Questions answered:
Thanks. I thought North might have been a bit higher given that they were rarely smashed this year. West in 1979 were the best wooden spooners ever. They won 7 1/2 games.

Spelly if it is not too hard could you please tell me how many times North have won at Alberton in the last 60 years
I suspect it would be over 40% of the games which would be way better than any other club.
