Re: Rankings
After latest round:
Eagles - looking really solid and with James Tsitas yet to come.
North - Solid win against a good side.
South - Didn't lose any credibility in a tough game against North. Will keep improving.
Norwood - Awesome midfield power on display against a weakened West
Glenelg - Ground out a win against a committed Sturt, but still seem a way off their best.
Sturt - played well, but seem just a bit short of the top five teams at the moment.
Central - seemingly improved display against the Eagle without looking like a real threat.
West - injury-weakened side was no match for the Redlegs. More pain ahead.

Starting to worry about the Eagles depth. Injuries starting to accumulate.
A broken hand to Lonergan on the weekend. Could be a few matches away before we see Tsitas and Lowson. No tall central position players in the reserves.
What will help the Eagles get to the finals is their excellent percentage. Norwood, North and the Bays are starting to gather momentum and have very good player lists. Norwood's main players looked awesome on the weekend.

Re: Rankings
For a final four, it may come down to Glenelg or South for the final spot.
I think the Eagles and North are safe. Watching Norwood's midfield on Saturday was scary - they had about 6 players with 30 touches and lots of goals. I'd guess they will make it.
Glenelg are hanging in, which puts pressure on South, who often start well and then a lack of depth causes problems.
I can't see Sturt being good enough and West and Central will fight for the spoon.

What you are intimating is that there are 5 teams that are in a duel for 4 finals sports
They are in present ladder order
WT
NA
SA
NW
GL
The interesting thing is that NW have not beaten any of these sides this season
NW play these sides in the next 4 matches
I think there is very little between those 5 clubs
Injuries may be a factor in which teams make finals

Yes.
I included Norwood after watching their midfield power on Saturday.
I'll wait to see how they go against a stronget team, but they look pretty good.

After latest round:
Eagles - Routine win against an average opponent.
North - Eventually got the job done, but keep winning
Glenelg - Holding up, but not yet firing at premiership level of last year.
Norwood - Continuing the improvement against a good opponent.
South - Not far off with another good performance.
Sturt - Will finish 6th.
Central - Improved performances without winning. Slowly improving
West - Well off the pace with injuries & a lack of talent

It looks very like the bottom 3 could go on early vacation and leave the rest to slug it out for a finals berth.
Of those, at this point, perhaps South look the most suspect, even with relatively good form.

South will come out with all guns blazing this weekend. Ex Eagle player and now Panther coach Jarrad Wright always get his players up against his former club. After losing to the Panthers in the first game of the season it will be interesting to see how Jade Sheedy plans for this match. Should be an excellent match.

Im sure that South will come out all guns blazing, but with 17 players currently injured -among them the recruit of the year imo Tom Highmore, it may prove difficult. South lately have had great tussles with the Eagles and despite the bleak conditions forecast this should be a very good match.

Latest Round:
Eagles - Did what they had to against an inaccurate South
Glenelg - Very impressive win and getting back to their best.
North - Just got there luckily against West & looked a bit lethargic.
South - Dominated large parts of the game, but not the scoreboard
Sturt - Demolition job against a poor Central outfit
Norwood - So much talent, what;s the missing link?
West - Much improved effort, but didn't know mhow to win.
Central - Back to the drawing board.

Sportsbet odds
WT 2-50
NA 3-50
GL 5
SA 6-50
NW 8
ST 41
WA 81
CD 251
I think the order of favoritism for this years title is spot on
WA are a much better side than their 7th spot would suggest though

Re: Rankings
Eagles - Routine win, still the team to beat.
North - huge win, certainly staked their claim as a Premiership contender.
South - this is a different South, talented, United and hungry.
Glenelg - only this high because the last 4 are ordinary.
Sturt - pale shade of the Sturt of old. Way off the pace.
Central - Good win with an injury depleted side.
Norwood - better than Central but don't deserve to be higher after such a poor effort. Something is wrong at the Parade.
West - looked disorganised and lacking method, after such a strong showing against North.

Agree $6-50 was too short , considering how many injuries SA have had

I dont think $6.50 is too short at all. In fact it maybe a good bet. I havent seen a South team play that well in many years, and I rarely miss a game. Currently there is a mad panic for our numerous injured players to get back on the track asap...

After latest round:
South - Just keep getting the job done.
Eagles - First hiccup for some time, inclined to forgive one game
Glenelg - Gutsy effort to hold on under difficulties
North - Should have been able to overcome t5he Bays, but didn't
Norwood - Perhaps should be higher after a great win, but the run may be coming too late.
Sturt - almost looked gone early in the third quarter, but found just enough. Still look a fair way off the pace.
West - Once again found a way to lose a game they almost controlled.
Central - Injuries have left them short on depth of talent.

SA 6-00
GL 6-50

ST 67-00
LADDER
16 WT 59-18

10 NW 49-62
08 ST 47-31
03 WA 43-36
03 CD 41-44
I think the minor round finish will be the same as the betting order
SA have an outside chance of a top 2 finish, as have a nice draw in the last 4 rounds
NW might be poor odds for a team that is likely to finish 5th in the minor round
So the first round of finals could be
SA V GL
WT V NA
On a side note
We are extremely fortunate to have a low incidence by world standards of Covid in our state
Ive really enjoyed watching this season
As a whole the 8 clubs have provided an excellent source of entertainment
Im giving a lot of credit to all the clubs , all things considering
Standard has been good, lets hope that any proposed salary cap drop in 2021 does not diminish the product

Eagles - Back on track, marking targets and effective small forwards.
Glenelg - Finding their mojo again.
North - Not far away, but just look a little below what's needed.
Sturt - Found plenty at last, good win.
South - Real opportunity wasted, didn't fire a shot against a team they should have beaten.
Central - Showing steady improvement and top class win from behind.
Norwood - What's going on? Expensive list producing inconsistency.
West - Just a sub-standard performance. Too many not up to league standard week in, week out.

After latest round:
Eagles - Awesome display against the Bays. Looks the obvious favourite with talent all over the ground.
North - Did what was needed and can look to a 2nd Semi against the Eagles.
South - Far too good for West after an even first half. Need to beat Norwood next week to be asured of finals, though.
Norwood - Saved their season in the last 5 minutes against Sturt. Should be travelling better, but have the talent.
Glenelg - Bad day against a very good side. Will bounce back.
Sturt - Continued their improved form and almost snatched a win against the 'Legs.
Central - Never likely against North, but playing much improved football.
West - Really poor effort again. Don't have enough players up to the standard.
