Rankings
Not the premiership table, but how they're travelling:
Glenelg - Great effort in top-class game. The hunger is still there.
Norwood - Lost, but showed they'll be right up there, especially with Bastinac added.
North - Looked to win under wraps to me. Will be up there.
South - Ground out a gutsy win, should keep improving
Eagles - My feeling is that they're slipping after years of being right up there.
Central - Competitive effort, wait and see
West - Also competitive most of the day, but a lot of work to be done.

Chambo, you'd think anyone with half a brain would be able to count to 8, wouldn't you?
4th - The Blues, a regulation win made all the better seeing it was achieved without Brant Chambers up forward.

The Blues travelled badly with the advent of the Beatles , fortunately Jack Oatey revived the Blues

After Round 2:
Glenelg - Just snuck in again, but look the goods to me.
North - They'll obviously be around the mark.
Eagles - Just about had them written off, then changed everyone's mind.
Norwood - Bottom, but not for long.
South - They keep showing something. I don't think they have the cattle, but they have the Coach and the will.
Sturt - Was tempted to leave them out again, but oh dear, a really worrying second half.
Central - Their list is poor, but they got a sniff and took it.
West - Threw away a comfortable win against a poor side.

Re: Rankings
Intrigued how you could rate South below Norwood... South have one win and would have had a draw as well except for an umpiring "Howler" in the final seconds of the match v Bays. Norwood havent troubled the scorers yet.. Cotton on borrowed time methinks..

Fair enough, it's a line-ball call, based on margins and opponents. Could just as easily been the other way.
Nice to see some discussion about it.

Re: Rankings
Here we go:
Eagles - Absolute smashing of Norwood shows they're a force
North - Ominous form to start the season
Glenelg - Will obviously be top three, easier games to come.
South - Going along nicely, well coached and good spirit
Sturt - Just getting there, but don't look a threat at this stage
West - Much improved showing, but look tested against better sides
Central - Their next clash with West might be for the wooden spoon
Norwood - The wheels fell off, what's going on?

Re: Rankings
Eagles looked pretty good, but Norwood looked pretty ordinary to me yesterday, havent seen a Norwood side so poor for ages. Mind you if you have Irra, Szust and Ellison in your best 21 ...you are in trouble....
Centrals werent great on Saturday either, if South had taken advantage of their forwards entries in the first half the game would have been over at halftime, instead it was all square.
Bays and North look very good. Sturt and South have a big game at Noarlunga this week, South with a few injuries apparently. Have a feeling the game may have a little added extra spice to it, but a very important game for both sides.
Looks like the bloods are on the improve, and from what I saw had a few tough decisions go against them in the last few minutes of a close game at Unley.

FWIW, I thought Sturt looked very average against us yesterday. They relied heavily on Kirkwood, Battersby and Colquhoun. I did think Ash Johnson (?) was very good, as was Wundke.
You'll be looking forward to the Abe Davis Cup
(You're right, and Davis conned the umps a few times in the last quarter).

As an Eagles fan was a great win over Norwood.
First half Eagles didn’t look fantastic just a side getting there . Goal kicking was a big issue . Norwood was so bad to start with I can’t say more .
After half time the eagles improved a hell of a lot .
Having said that Eagles attacking game finally they have an attacking running game finally !!!

Norwood has many unavailable at present
This is the injury/unavailable list from the club
League players
Bastinac
Gerloff
Johnston
Nunn
Pedro
Z Richards
Surman
Tahlia
Wilson
Others
Carroll
Millman
Wagner
At some stage NW will most probably come good- but at 0-3 time is running out in a shortened season

Irra is a surprise. When he played for South he played as an attacking half back and had good pace and the ability to read the play. A couple of years at Port and he has bulked up, lost a lot of pace, cannot find the ball and spends his time niggling and sniping. He has gone backwards in a big way.

Interesting,........ I could have sworn I was Adelaide Oval and saw South defeat the Eagles in RD1...... I must have been mistaken..
If you watch yesterdays digital pass of north and the eagles pick the huge number of mistakes
Not all by the commentators but when they say the eagles stats are up all we see is north
That’s just one of many

Eagles - THought they might struggle, but they're going along nicely.
South - Just getting the job done with solid team efforts and some good youngsters
North - Eagles too good, but they're around the mark
Glenelg - Oh dear, are they still thinking about last year?
West - Great committed team effort, skipper deleivered.
Norwood - Need to see more than a one-quarter blitz.
Sturt - JUst don't look like the Sturt of old.
Central - Fought back well, but look a long way off the pace,
Lee Harradine's book on West Adelaide will be available for pre-order this coming week. A great read for all SANFL supporters. Link will be put up on here.

After latest round:
Eagles - looking the goods, playing great footy
South - Young, committed and on the rise.
North - Got a fright for a while, but got the points when it counted
Glenelg - Blitzed early after a shock last week. Need to awake from a bit of a premiership coma.
Norwood - Season looked shaky at quarter time, but back on track.
Sturt - Just not the Sturt of old, giving up a big lead.
West - As so often, a great win followed by not showing up to play.
Central - The flame flickered for a while, but went out again.

cant disagree too much with your summation there..
West are on the improve dont worry about that!
however as someone who has supported South for over 60 years, I'd perhaps be a little more cautious with regard to our current form. A couple of big matches coming , which will give us a little more insight perhaps. I've had my hopes dashed and heart ripped out and thrown on the ground and squashed under someones boot far too many times to get too carried away yet.

Yes, agree.
However, they're playing with commitment and confidence and have found some good young players.
South's problem in the past has been lack of depth, which shows up as the season progresses. They often start well, then drop away, but I think they'll certainly play finals this year.
