good question but i don't select the team, perhaps when they see the weather that might change a bit

4 players from Central. Bit surprised at that, especially McIntyre.

Miles and Beard will play as the key backs with Coad playing in the back pocket on the third tall forward

Really? Have you seen McIntyre's toughness at the stoppages? Is averaging close to 8 tackles a game, also...
Paul Thomas, for mine, is a no-brainer in terms of selection and likely to be Captain, again...
Jarrod Schiller is having a great year, especially the last month and can play a tagging role really well. He also played, and performed really well, in the State side last year...
Luke Habel perhaps can be considered the lucky one and I personally think he may be the 23rd player and one that misses out on match day selection...
As much as I'd love to see Luke play, knowing him really well and how much of a great person he is, Ben Hansen from Sturt perhaps plays the similar type role and probably has more X-Factor, especially with his long kick, particularly on the smaller ground of Port Melbourne...
Personally, having seen a bit of North Adelaide this season, I think that Leigh Ryswyk is perhaps a little lucky to be in the final 23 and is probably, in some aspects, selected based on his 7 goal performance last year albeit against lesser opposition.
Any from West that you thought could have been in the final 23 that weren't, R&B? I assume that perhaps Daniel Caire was left out due to the possible risk from his recent hamstring issue?

I guess that will depend on how the Vic's final 22 line-up and perhaps also weather conditions on the day. The great thing about Coad, as I mentioned previously, is his flexibility and versatility...lachlan wrote:Miles and Beard will play as the key backs with Coad playing in the back pocket on the third tall forward

as BP has eluded too, McIntyre in the 3 or 4 Central games i've seen this year has been very good, this is just another great thing about footy as we all see it differently

The VFL have cut their squad back to 32 with former Norwood player Nathan Batsanis one who dropped out from the initial 40-man squad...

Fair enough about McIntyre. The only couple if times I've seen him, he's been average, but I accept the judgement of those who have seen him more.
No, Phil, I have no problem with only two from West. Chris Schmidt would have made 3 if he'd been fit.

Still the best small defender, but has missed a fair bit of footy through injury, so it's understandable he missed out.

Watched mist of the second half and it looked like we moved the ball quicker into attack than the Vics.
Wundke was huge, in more ways than one.
Good to hear Collo commentating.
Jonno Beech, great player.

what a great contest to watch, i thought we were slightly better in skills & ball movement & had better targets up forward, although throughout the day the Vics had their chances & didn't capitalise on them
good luck to both medal winners but i'm bemused that former Norwood player Nick Lower didn't win Victorias' best player & Michael Wundke win the Fos Williams medal...no doubt & with respect (imho) these two had more influence that the two lads who were picked

SA certainly ran out the game better than the Vic's, well done to the team and all involved

While some elsewhere were having the usual whinge about the game, I thought it was a great game to watch. Plenty of skill, close all day and some of the best footy I've seen for a while.

I didn't see all of the game, just the second half as I was involved in the reserves game at Richmond, but the standard was very good IMO, the Vic's hit the lead half way through the last qtr but SA were good enough to apply pressure and get the lead back to go on for a great win.

If a crowd of 35,000 turned up and watched the game, all would have said it was an exciting game, etc. etc. etc.
It is crowd atmosphere that turns games into hard fought contests.
Lack of crowd numbers does not get the spectators excited, so many go away thinking it was an ordinary game.
75,000 roll up to the MCG, watch 2 ordinary teams, the scores are not even close, yet most reckon it was a good standard.

Must admit I had lost all interest in these games, but flicked over a few times as I'd backed SA and I thought the standard and intensity was excellent. I think there will always be something special about seeing the State guernsey clash with the Big V, but Im not sure I would have such interest against the other comps. Find out next year I guess. Great win by the lads btw.

Those boundary side interviews aren't done for the SANFL site, they are just a part of the radio coverage that, of recent times, have been thrown in to the Recovery Session vision...
For me, it is the old saying of 'a good head for radio', Hatchet. I'm not exactly built for television.
Chris Kendall would far and away be a better option. More knowledgeable of how the TV broadcasting side of things works and, more importantly, more deserving of another opportunity on the big screen.
Won't happen.

Why do you say that, eartotheground? You don't think Chris is deserving of an opportunity and would certainly be more knowledgable than any of the current crew?eartotheground wrote:Won't happen.

One person closely associated with the SANFL should be more cautious about their conversations about certain people being overheard, put it that way.
Channel 7 would also be aware of the issues with breaking existing personnel contracts.
