Hate it.
You get to know the horses by their colours.

they use it at Menangle not sure how often though & given the new steward Barbara Scott hails from NSW I'd suggest this is where the idea comes from............Lee is right, however it personally doesn't bother me one way or another BUT those owners who pay the training fees love watching their horses run in their own or the very least their stable colors

I should have made it clearer
From how I understand it
The drivers will still wear their stable uniform colors
It will be the saddle clothes that will change
Otherwise the poor drivers will need 10 different uniforms [and more in bigger fields of 11+]

beat me to it, i asked about this at this mornings trials at Globe Derby & i can confirm it is the saddle cloth numbers & they'll be a bit bigger than the normal saddle cloths for easier vision

Good, that's fine.
I was horrified before that.
Used to love watching my All Orange colours going around on Devon General in the late 70's.

Re: The trots at Globe Derby
please take note that tomorrow nights Globe Derby meeting has been put back one hour because of the forecast of extreme heat, obviously a common sense decision & the first race which will be won by Flagbearer will commence at 7.25 pm

Agree , good decision to put all races back
Flagbearer looks the leader , if so should win
I reckon Bob Francis has claims
R6-2 BIG Shot Bob
The WAFC runner cant win
R6-6 Saved By Doug

Flagbearer $1.70 elsewhere
Big Shot Bob $1.30 was value seeing it should have been 1/10......made the jackpot treble only a double

Re: The trots at Globe Derby
i can't wait for it to be run in Perth where it'll more a traditional format, no interest to the way its been handled in recent years

Totally disagree with the way the new hierarchy who run harness racing in this country have messed around with the inter dominion which has been run since 1936.
The way that it was run for nearly 80 years was changed because, wait for it , it was too harsh on the horses according to one official. This, the way it had been run for all of those years and now it is too harsh on horses of today, perhaps they should all wear skirts.
Jut take a look at the past champions who coped with how it was run.
I do understand that to run it in different states each year is probably cost prohibitive, we in Adelaide couldn't afford to host it again but to do away with the heats and final all run over two weeks lost me and it really doesn't mean that much to me any more sadly.

Agree. The InterDominion used to be big news and each heat was a big deal.
Often seems like an afterthought now.

Re: The trots at Globe Derby
i understand the cost factor but whatabout this thought run it over 7 days with 2 lots of heats & a final, lets say sat/wed/sat you then save accomodation costs for one week & the additional cost of a round of heats & whichever city holds it still gets a week of publicity...................
ask Brian Hancock what he thinks, he spoke his mind when he was the ambassador for one of the recent interdominions (not sure whether he still has that role or not) he is dead set against it

Re: The trots at Globe Derby
A monumental balls up ?
Last race Port Pirie
They crossed the line with the numbers being
5-2-6-3
However every Corporate Bookie and TAB have resulted
5-2-3-6
The 6 Roll On Rainey has run 3rd
The 3 Ultimate Luck has run 4th
So who is right Scrappy or the multi million betting agencies ?
