YEP, from January 1st..............as you mention it has been tried before & unless the 7 horse is an outstanding beginner the drivers immediately grab hold & go back trying to get into the running line as quickly as possible.....................after talking to the top professionals punters on the trots last Sunday at the trials, they unanimously are all dead against it, in fact one said ''they ask us to increase our turnover to help the industry as a whole, yet we don't even get asked if we think it's worth trying'' SAHRC have announced a 5% increase in 'market share' (whatever that really means)

Increased prize money for races at the trots also, whilst it is only a small increase it all helps.

Re: The trots at Globe Derby
remember from Friday night there is 7 across the front...which means more no 8's will be running a place than no 7's

Re: The trots at Globe Derby
Why have they put 7 off the front instead of 6?
Is it because 7 is given a front line draw and can have the option to contest the lead?
As far as I'm concerned barrier 7 is now a virtual no bet barrier
Most barrier 7s will now have to ease back to the rear of the field
These were the the results of the first meeting with barrier 7 front line
4-10-6
4-8-6
3-1-5
6-8-9
8-1-3
6-4-3
1-9-4
4-8-6
As Bayman posted more 8s will be placed compared to 7s
He is 4-0 up with his prediction

the $9.00 meals are no more on race nights, only during the week, because the paceway restaurant upstairs has at times had very little bookings & has been closed because they've all been downstairs
the draw for the cup is held today in the bistro at GDP at 2 pm

We are going this week and have booked in at the paceway restaurant (upstairs) and the cost is $40 per person, this includes entry in, we only go to the restaurant for this meeting, all other times we go to the trots we buy food from the other outlets at the track.

Perhaps the club would be better served in utilising the Paceway Restaurant in a similar manner to Angle Park.
it sounds like the meals downstairs have improved markedly.
Perhaps the cost upstairs needs to be lowered

With the rain forecast, there goes my annual family night out at the trots..... usually we have a large group sitting on the grassy knoll in front of the finishing post. Sorry, we won't be there, we have decided to give it a miss, maybe next year.

I'm sure this weather will put a lot of people off from attending tonight FB, sorry we won't catch up, will see you at the club--This time last week we were all suffering from the heat and now this, must be climate change

unfortunate for the club that Mother Nature has delivered us this weather.
will have a big impact on crowd numbers and a little bit less mug money for Bayman to capitalise on

Re: The trots at Globe Derby
the smallest cup crowd in living memory, it didn't look like raining at all after lunch time so i thought they'd turn up, i think the $15.00 entry fee is way way too much to ask..........i'll bet the SAHRC will embellish the crowd figures like they always do..........personally i was happy with a smallish crowd as you didn't have to line up too many times or for too long when you did, God bless Rejuvenations' heart

With about 5 minutes to go the New South Wales TAB had these fixed odds until the race start
1 Heza Prezidente
$151 win
$1-20 place
Oh dear !

GDP is scheduled every Saturday night bar 2 nights from next Saturday 17/1/2015 to May
Those meetings are
28/2 Mount Gambier
18/4 Port Pirie
The free ticket for another meeting is something I suggested years ago
Therefore I must commend this initiative !

Re: The trots at Globe Derby
We had a good night despite the smallest crowd I can ever remember for the biggest race on the harness callendar in this state, due no doubt to the weather forcast which didn't eventuate.
The winner of the race was very impressive on a track that did receive a lot of rain in the days before but was still able to smash the track record by 1.5 seconds, quite a remarkable feat, I can't remember a horse breaking any record by that much.
For over four hours of entertainment on the biggest night on the trotting calendar in this state I don't think the price is excessive at all and look forward to going again next year, we will also be attending a few more meetings this summer.

Re: The trots at Globe Derby
Innovation likely to come
As I understand it , the proposal
Runners in Adelaide trots to have the colors of sorts that are currently used in Greyhound Racing
For example
Barrier 1 = red colors
Barrier 5 = Yellow colors
Great idea
Track woman Scott and co are likely to test this soon
