Re: Big Bash League 2013/14
I've actually been really enjoying having the Big Bash on TV this year. I've just been having it on in the background but it's nice to have some cricket on at night, makes it feel like summer.
The finish to last night's game was a cracker. Gee old Hoggy goes alright for a bloke of 42.

Sydney Thunder v Adelaide Strikers 27/12/2014
Adelaide sent into bat & made 6/153
Klinger 44
Reardon 30 not out
that Sandhu has a similar look to Michael Jackson when he made the 'Thriller' album
i think it should be enough given the Sydney Thunders batting line up

Thought the strikers were gone but good death bowling by Richardson and Taity at the end were good. Hussy still can play

What an exciting finish! Loving the 20:20 and the test action at the moment. CA must be absolutely delighted with the summer so far.

i can't work out whether Adelaide snatched a win out of the jaws of defeat or Sydney snatched a loss from the jaws of victory
i must give full credit to Botha he took on the responsibility for the catch of Hussey early & then took it, what a great pressure act from the captain
for the future teams when in control shouldn't 'coast' to victory because if its around 10 runs needed of the last over then both teams are a chance

Gees the Strikers got smacked last night.
In fairness though the Melbourne Stars have an all star 20/20 lineup. It's the first time I've had a look at them and their really is no respite for the opposition, it's basically an all star international 20/20 team.

Re: Big Bash League 2013/14
great contest at the WACA tonight, i just can't believe Luderman didn't come in two spots earlier, yes i thought that at the time, a couple of things i didn't agree with
1, the free hit no-ball, surely it was a wide & should've been bowled again
2, the 'catch' that turned into a 6 (by Reardon), i feel if a player takes a catch inside the arena & then goes over the rope it should be a catch, a lot like a footballer taking a mark on a lead & runs over the boundary line after the mark
anyway great entertainment in a game dominated by the bat, Simmons was outstanding & reminded me of Scrappy's philosophy on batting, ''if you hit a boundary you don't have to run''
Perth 7/203
Adel 6/198

1 Agree Cummins bouncer was too high for Reardon to hit
2 ?
3 Agree 100%
Great game
Simmons batting[100 off 39 balls a new BBL record] reminded me of the way Bayman used to play cricket
Bayman was bowling

Re: Big Bash League 2013/14
Was a great run chase by the Strikers. Huge effort to get so close, and really there was a couple of opportunities in that last over to get the runs. Even that last ball - waist high full toss could easily have gone for 6 if he was onto it a bit quicker.

Re: Big Bash League 2013/14
The end result of getting so close deflects from the fact there was some really dumb bowling early.
So many wides and so many absolute rubbish balls.
Botha needs to reassess his opinion of his own bowling sometimes.

One question concerning bouncers- I was always under the impression if a batsman is out of his crease, then the no-ball / wide call becomes defunct. Has this been changed?

I don't think there's ever been such a rule, valleys?
Impossible to adjudicate if there was, anyway.

Re: Big Bash League 2013/14
My understanding is that the reference point is the batsman in his normal stance. So if you go charging around the wicket or change stance for a switch hit then it is your original position not where you are when the ball gets to you that counts.valleys07 wrote:One question concerning bouncers- I was always under the impression if a batsman is out of his crease, then the no-ball / wide call becomes defunct. That's correct, UH.
I think it's a judgement call on that basis by the umpire, unless it's written in to the rules specifically for the T20 format.

normal batting stance is correct, the said ball was clearly over the head of the batsman on his normal stance
