6 MOMMIE DEAREST , THE JOAN CRAWFORD STORY [1981]
8 Faye Dunaway

I never thought Joan Crawford was stunning , until she was portrayed by  Faye Dunaway

Y Tu Mama Tambien (and your mother too), 2001, Mexico (in Spanish)

Was on World Movies on the weekend so will probably be on about another 20 times in the next three weeks if you are interested.

It's R rated and pretty graphic in bits so not one to watch with the kids.

I loved it. It was a road trip movie with a slightly more experienced older woman and two young friends and it was funny, well paced and thoughtful at times. There are some sex scenes but they don't dominate the story line. It's got an interesting ending- not entirely surprising but not too predictable either. I kind of felt like it ended as it would have in real life rather than a movie ending.

Actors: Gael Garcia Bernal was the hotter of the two friends while Diego Luna was excellent as the awkward sidekick. For the boys, Maribel Verdu was the main female character who was living life to the fullest and she was sexy but down to earth and fun at the same time. Set across Mexico the backdrop shows a pretty harsh existence but it all came together beautifully.

I give the movie and the three leads all an 8.5. It's well worth the effort of subtitles if you don't speak Spanish.

Gough more or less tells Basehart to far Gough
Basehart gets bashed up by Gough
Gough, later, is eventually murdered !
Sullivan is the PD, and plays the sarcastic , smartanal  part splendidly, he is a star actor
Conrad is Sullivans fatso assistant
Charisse is great to look at , but her acting skills were ordinary at best

World war Z

Brad Pitt on a mission to save the world, survives a plane crash that everyone else dies in and works out how to beat a virus spreading throughout the world. Lot's of bullets flying around. Head shots and the occasional head crushing with a boot or crow bar scenes.

Ok if you like zombie movies otherwise one download i should have given a miss. Some good action scenes but too predictable.

LOL... it's not that bad a movie but as i said, if you like zombie movies similar to Night of the living dead,The Dead, Dawn of the dead etc...you'll like this one.

The movie preview reads:
A privileged housewife in 1950s America
As her story unfolds, her pristine world is transformed

Dennis Qauid is a superb actor , reminds me of Harrison Ford
Both have seemingly ice cool demeanours
This is a movie depicting more or less the times and attitude of the 1950s
Its set in Hartford, a favourite town of mine, I did stay there for a while
Quaid and Moore have it all
Quaid has the high profile job, Moore is a darling of the Hartford socialite set

Moore looks a bit ordinary for her , with her 50s hairdo , but plays the part ok
I query the part Quaid has to play , and this movie turns into moore or less ....

LOL

Demi Moore and Miley Cyrus.

Was on Foxtel. Ummm quite average.

The book of Eli.

A bit of Mad Max type movie. It's not until you get towards end of the movie that you understand why the book is important.
Worth watching.

Why did I watch this film ?

Leslie Caron and her legs
Kurt Kasznar a giant in the land of actors

Caron is depicted as a dopey naive immature girl
She misses out on a job she was half promised and ends up with a circus mob
Caron's part was terrible , but as always was nice to look at
She plays the part of a 16 year old ,acts like a 10 year old, she was about 22 in real life, at the time of the film
With her hair up, in a pose in this film, she looks a bit like Danni Minogue
Caron looked a lot better than ZZ Gabor in this film

Kasznar plays a nice guy , he plays several fits you parts in his acting career
This guy is portly but there's something about him
Dunno how James Dean got the part in Giant in front of Kasznar

Mel Ferrer plays a forgettable part , he looks a bit like David Wildy

The song Hi Lili, Hi Lo became a hit in 1953
Its a catchy tune, splendidly covered by Manfred Mann a decade later

As for the movie
If your a Leslie and Kurt fan watch it
If not watch Sesame Street instead

as actors i'd suggest they are on par, as for other comparisons you'd take Doris home to mum but want to spend time with Ginger

GARFIELD
I guess everyone knows the plot and ending of both brilliant films
John Garfield reminds me so much of Charles Bronson in looks and speech
I've not ever seen Garfield play a nice guy part
He plays the part of Frank gas Chambers
Garfield, died in real life, when only 39 from a heart attack , possibly a direct result of having Scarlett Fever at an earlier age [Scarlett as in disease not Rhetts girlfriend]

TURNER
Lana Turner had the Marilyn Monroe look about her, perhaps Monroe imitated Turner to a degree , certainly men turnered around to watch both these beauties

KELLEWAY
Played an ordinary part , reminds me a bit of Alfred Hitchcock

CRONYN
Plays a superb part in this film
Reminds me very much of Don Adams , but plays a much smarter part

TOTTER
Audrey Totter is also in this movie
The gal who starred in the movie Tension , makes an impression in this flick
Looked sexier in Tension though
Audrey, born 20/12/1917 is still alive !

I cant split the 1946 or 1981 versions , both superb films
Jack and Jessica bonked like hell in 81
John and Lana were more or less pashionate

If you dont want to see the 1946 version, as you know the plot I have a suggestion
Within 15 minutes of the '46 version Lana Turner strips off to her swim suit in a beach scene , that is worth watching at least.

And who is the better looker Turner or Lange ?
I will vote for the '46 movie slightly
And Lange looked slightly better than Turner

9.3 FOREVER YOUNG [1992]

Superb movie
Gibson is frozen in the Port Adelaide premiership year 1939
Gibson thaws out in the Port Adelaide premiership year 1992
That's the basic of the movie
One year he is listening to Billy Halliday songs , the next he is in the Mellow yellow era of Donovan.
Lucky man as well, in 1939 he is kissing the beautiful Iasbel Glasser
Then in 1992 he gets to see Jamie Lee Curtis almost topless
For the discerning types , if you want to see Jamie Lee Curtis topless , you get to see that twice in that hillarious movie comedy Trading Places

GIBSON
One of his greatest acting performances
By 1992 he had improved his acting immensely from the Max and Tim days
There is a scene early in the movie where he scoffs down a Blueberry pie , that is a rare flaw in this movie, one would think a caraMel pie should have been eaten

CURTIS
Something about her,
She has those long legs , wow !
From toe Knee , some like it hot ....
She plays a very nice part in a very nice film

This is one of those movies you wish would never end

''Some Like it Hot'' a movie starring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon & of course Tony Curtis (father of).....what a very good pun Scrappy

In this film he is a cross between Bruce Lee, Shintaro and Rambo
Not a bad actor, and plays the part as the Don Bradman of Martial Arts

BRIDGET FONDA
Shes not as stunning as her Auntie Jane , but she is a real cutie
She has been given a dreadfully unsuitable part to play
Shes plays a whoreable part as a hooker cum scag
She is a wonderful actress , but playing a scag hooker just aint her.
