Roger Moore always seemed a poor imitation of Sean Connery.

not if you watched Roger Moore first as bond, those two head & shoulders above the rest, mind you i haven't seen D. Craig as Bond yetFOOTYfollower wrote:Roger Moore always seemed a poor imitation of Sean Connery.

Re: Greatest Actors Actresses of all time
Faye Dunaway got the gig in front of a few others in Bonnie and Clyde
Some others that were consdered for the part were:
Leslie Caron
Cher
Jane Fonda
Natalie Wood
I reckon Jane Fonda would have played the role well , in her younger days she was quite a cheeky vibrant actress
Cher can be a mean dame, would have played the part very well
Natalie Wood might have been to sweet for the part
Leslie Caron had great legs, could dance like hell, but a bank robber surely not
FB , sorry but Jane Fonda , in my opinion , was a shade prettier than Faye Dunaway
Jane Fonda has aged extremely well
Anyone done or seen the Jane Fonda video exercise , what beauty for one so mature in age

There was no chance of zero population growth after seeing that movie
The cliche of Plain Jane is not applicable !

I have not checked to see if they have been married and divorced 3 times, but could be right !!!
On the ball with the ages
They all made it to 80 + years of age
Have read they are all still alive as of earlier 2013
I only included some of the well known stars there were others listed
The above list is from oldest to youngest
Luise Rainer , the oldest
Born : 12/1/1910
She is currently 103 years old
The first woman to win 2 Academy Awards
First film role was 1933 her last movie in 1997
In her day she was cute, and had a lovely smile

RYAN GOSLING
Ryan Gosling is an excellent actor
I will elaborate on two roles he has starred in
THE NOTEBOOK
This was a lovely film
Ryan's on and off relationship with the stunning Rachael Mcadams showed that he was capable of playing the romantic in movies.
DRIVE
I'm not a fan of blood/bash/bullet movies
The story line was fair at best
Some of the execution of scenes are superb
The pace of the movie went from ultra steady to frenetic , whoooooosh at times
This movie was not just another bore gore and is really made by the outstanding performance of Gosling
Gosling, ice cool, sensual and super confident are some of the superlatives to describe his acting in this film
Ryan Gosling, currently one of the best actors going around
As for the movies, both are so different to each other
I have a leaning for The Notebook

Re: Greatest Actors Actresses of all time
JAMES GARNER
Been in a stack of movies
But his work on TV shows is what has impressed me
THE ROCKFORD FILES
Played the part of Jim Rockford the PI
Lived in that van by the beach
Had the famous line of $200 plus expenses when he took a case
This was good 70's TV
I was a big fan of James Garner from the Maverick days , that was the attraction in watching this show
When I saw the movie Drive [Ryan Gosling] it reminded me a bit of TRF
Quite often Garner would be in fast driving scenes in TRF
Quite fittingly Gosling/Garner interspersed and played the same character in The Notebook , Ryan the youngster and Garner the elder.
MAVERICK
Of all the western TV shows, this has to be one of the most entertaining
All the Mavericks played very good parts
I guess the most memorable thing I remember was how Bret Maverick would have a $1000 bill pinned on the inside of his jackets
The best Maverick ?
James Garner as Bret was the best in my opinion
Jack Kelly as Bart , was almost as good
Roger Moore as Beau was ok, but I much preferred him in more saintly roles
James Garner has the look of an actor
I say, with some tinkling imagination , he has the look of our iconic ABC football broadcaster Neil Cross...

Scrappy did you know that the Rockford files was a remake of Maverick ? but for modern times & using Rockford as a private detective.........i've either read it on wiki or watched it on the BIO channel when James Garner was the subject

Roy Huggins was involved in both Maverick and the Rockford Files
Noah Beery[Rockfords dad] was OK in the Rockford Files , but the rest of the cast were ordinary

Re: Greatest Actors Actresses of all time
The opening credits where Barbarella does the zero gravity strip show is just about the highlight of this movie. I think Kylie Minogue did a parody of it in one of her Film Clips - not sure which one.Scrappy wrote:Barbarella WOWbayman wrote:FB , sorry but Jane Fonda , in my opinion , was a shade prettier than Faye Dunaway

The other highlight is when Barbarella broke the "pleasure" organ machine (every household should have one! )
...and a blind flying angel no less who has it away with Barbarella.
A bit of (fairly well known) trivia is that the band Duran Duran took their name from this movie.
Beware the Matmoss!
Barbarella would just about have to be in the top 3 kinkiest movies of all time I reckon.
I've still got it on VHS somewhere. Reminiscing about this, I might just have to go home and watch it again tonight.

CHLOE SEVIGNY
Does anyone rate Chloe Sevigny ?
When she smiles she has that inviting look about her , that take me to the bedroom look.
THE LAST DAYS OF DISCO
A movie about the 1980s disco days
Chloe was a real darling in this film , and that smile was a feature
BOYS DONT CRY
A weird film based on a true story
The stunning Hillary Swank plays a gender bender part.
She plays the part of a girl who dresses up and acts as a boy.
She has a relationship with Chloe Sevigny
The sex scenes between the two gorgeous real life gals was as weird as you get on the screen.
Sevigny is in her mid twenties , but looks about 18 in the film
As a High school student she did some babysitting
Chloe used to babysit a future actor , Topher Grace

Edwina Booth looks a real sort , but had not known about her
I very recently saw the re-make of the Trader Horn
Anne Heywood looked beautiful as per usual in this movie
I envy Rod Taylor in the water scene
Heywood thanks Taylor for cutting her hair , Rodney's reward was a hug and a kiss

Scrappy, on Ryan Gosling - have you seen Half Nelson? It was a $700,000 film (unheard of in the US) for which he won an Oscar nomination. Very good small, indie film.
And on Chloe Sevigny - has anyone seen the TV series 'Hit and Miss'? I've only seen ep one but it's pretty extraordinary. Legendary UK TV producer Paul Abbott is behind it.

Not seen Hit or Miss.
If its on Foxtel, can someone remind me
Did a search that reveals Sivigny plays the part of a Transsexual woman in Hit or Miss.
Also played a part when she had sexual romps with girl cum boy Hillary Swank in Boys Don't Cry.
One wonders....
Have not seen Ryan Gosling in Half Nelson
But I've seen number 33 for Woodville West Torrens this season
Scott Lewis, with his shorter hairdo these days, could almost pass as a Ryan Gosling lookalike

Now Anne Archer I can understand. She is rather fetching.
She was in several of the Tom Clancy movies, 'Patriot Games', 'Clear and Present Danger' etc.
And that scary one with Michael Douglas and Glenn Close, 'Fatal Attraction'. Between you and me, I would have stayed with the wife (Anne Archer).
