Re: Greatest Actors Actresses of all time
Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean Mortensen
She changed her surname to Monroe which was her mothers maiden name
She was named Marilyn after the broadway actress Marilyn Miller
Monroe died aged 36
Miller died aged 37
Sometimes you live fast , die young, and die a great looking corpse

Greatest Comedic Actors of All Time
How would you rank this list.
Charlie Chaplin
Chevy Chase
John Cleese
Billy Crystal
Bob Hope
Steve Martin
Eddie Murphy
Peter Sellers
Jerry Steinfeld
Robin Williams
Many others you could add, but that is a fair cross section of those who are generally rated the funniest.

Re: Greatest Actors Actresses of all time
Patricia Morison an actress as the term was known in her day turns 100 years old today, on her wiki page she is quoted saying this.......
''I used to think every night before I went on stage, a lot of people think of the audience as one mass, but it's not — it's all individual people. And that's why I love the theater ... And I always feel that if in some way you can touch somebody, either touch them emotionally, or if it's a young person who wants to be an actor, touch them so he or she, too, wants to be an actor ... it's so worthwhile. I've enjoyed everything I've done in life''.
Patricia Morison
she was great in the Sherlock Holmes' film Dressed to Kill starring Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce, playing a high profile actress who is also a crook & is from clues out of the tunes of musical boxes are trying to locate stolen bank plates (to print money), i would have loved to watch her perform on stage.......

Re: Greatest Actors Actresses of all time
ELIZABETH TAYLOR
Would have been 83 today
A headline actress on and off the screen
Made the difficult transition from child star to adult star
She certainly had glamour
This is what Shirley Mclaine had to say about ET
" She didnt want to do Cleopatra thats why she asked for a million dollars , she thought they would turn her down."
Joan Collins wanted the part of Cleopatra
It is said that Taylor didnt care if she got the part or not
This is what Taylor said on getting the part
" If someone is dumb enough to offer me a million dollars to make a picture , Im certainly not dumb enough to turn it down"
Cleopatra took 2 years to make
Taylor is said to have almost died of an illness during production
IMBD 10 greatest actresses
1 Katherine Hepburn
2 Meryl Streep
3 Bette Davis
4 Ingrid Bergman[Elettra Wiedemanns grandmother]
5 Vivien Leigh
6 ELIZABETH TAYLOR
7 Audrey Hepburn
8 Barbara Stanwyck
9 Joan Crawford
10 Lauren Bacall
That Elizabeth Taylor is considered 6th best by someone, is a magnificent endorsement

Seemingly always played screen parts as the dumbo
When Jerry was aged 17 , he made his TV debut
After his debut show he was taken to and met Albert Einstein , who was a smarto
Einstein said to Jerry Lewis " You did a good job, young man."
Here is a site on Jerrys son , Gary Lewis
www.garylewisandtheplayboys.com
Does anyone remember the smash hit in the 60s This Diamond Ring ?
Gary Lewis is the lead singer of that song

STEPHANIE COURTNEY
Who is she ?
She is that bubbly effervescent lady on the Progressive Insurance commercials
I reckon she is a scream , and love those commercials of her as Flo the counter girl
SC was born in New York
This is something I would never have guessed , she is 45 years old , she looks about 10 years younger
Ive not scene her act , but she has appeared in 12 movies and many TV shows
Some of the TV shows were
ER
Without a Trace
Everybody Loves Raymond
Looking forward to seeing her acting on the BIG screen

[quote="Scrappy"]The top 10 living actors/actresses
I searched these 10, they are all alive
Ages may vary, depending on the source, or my additions
103 Luise Rainer.............................RIP 103
99 Ellen Dow .................................RIP 101
97 Eli Wallach.................................RIP 98
97 Olivia de Havilland .........98
97 Don Keefer................................RIP 98
96 Kirk Douglas..................98
96 Zsa Zsa Gabor ...............98
95 Joan Fontaine.............................RIP 96
94 Patricia Laffan................96
94 Al Molinaro....................95
_____________________________________________________________________
That list was posted September 2013
Unfortunately half of them ended their long innings
Bayman recently posted about another actress who had made the ton
Patricia Morrison
Born 19/3/2015
Saw her in a documentary made in 1995 , would have been 79-80 years old at that stage and she still looked a picture
She might be the oldest living actor/actress alive

Re: Greatest Actors Actresses of all time
PETER USTINOV
Watched 2 movies on the weekend featuring the late Peter Ustinov.
The Sundowners (1960) set in Australia and mainly filmed on location in the Flinders Ranges. Also starring Robert Mitcham (with a plausible Aussie accent) and Deborah Kerr.
Topkapi (1964) set mainly in Turkey and Greece. Ustinov won a Best Supporting actor Oscar for this one.
He almost had the genes of every nation in him. His father was part Polish Jewish, one half Russian, one eighth African Ethiopian, and one eighth German. While his mother was half Russian, one quarter Italian, one eighth French, and one eighth German. Ustinov had ancestral connections to Russian nobility, as well as to the Ethiopian Royal Family. That's a pretty diverse mix.
Probably best known for his later roles as Hercule Poirot in the late 70's and 80s.
Two bits of interesting trivia are;
He was there when Indira Ghandi (Indian Prime Minister) was assassinated by her bodyguards. He was about to do a documentsary interview with her.
He was sued in 1963 for pulling out of the role as Inspector Clouseau. The other "Peter" was his replacement. Hard to say retrospectively how Ustinov would have compared to Sellers. Suffice to say it possible wasn't his best career decision. But then he may not have won the Topkapi Oscar.
An interesting gentleman..........
"I am an international citizen conceived in Russia, born in England, working in Hollywood, living in Switzerland, and touring the World" said Peter Ustinov.

Saw The Avengers for the first time
Not a bad show , quite enjoyed the parts played
Dramatical moments highlighted by background music variations
Diana Rigg looked the part , aged well for a woman close to 30 , looked apeeling enough
The episode I saw was The Return Of The Cybernauts
Legendary Australian actor Charles Tingwell had a part
Director Robert Day made the unbelievable cybernaut almost believable
