Re: Channel 7 the SANFL preferred broadcaster for 2014
Yes, well said, eartotheground. Disappointing also that they film their intro after the televised game and have no intro for any of the other games. That would mean more commitment from those involved to attend the final game of the round.eartotheground wrote:Sad to see some loyal servants of the SANFL being dumped for the new "Recovery Session" weekly highlights packages. While some will bang on about "professionalism" being needed, also worth noting those that helped out when commercial networks didn't want to. Sad days.

Reviewing one game when it used to be four is not progress.
That said it is all about the highlights so good to see they are still shown.

Because they are in the SANFL, Channel 7 are covering the SANFL and they want to give all clubs a fair and reasonable spread of coverage.Bundy wrote:Why are the 2 make believe sides on the TV AND AT CLARE????

And the reason (well partly) it's at Clare is in the game day thread between these 2 teams.
This really needed another thread.

Well mods/admin, I won't be posting in the SANFL forum any more due to the endless drivel offered by some.
I'll still frequent the AFL and other forums.
Well done to you all.

We hope you'll reconsider, Booney and comments noted, HTWWW.

I will in time, Admin.
My concern is anyone who is willing to discuss Port Adelaide and Adelaide's SANFL sides will be met with continual criticism and constant complaints relating to their current SANFL standing.
R&B started his Port v West review with "....did well considering we were playing an AFL side......"
That was it for me.

You don't think you're being a bit precious, Booney?
A rabid West supporter saying West were playing an AFL side is closer to the truth than not.
Perhaps read my post about the 'Rankings' where I think I give a fair summary.
It will take a little time for all of us to come to terms with the new concept (one that I've always accepted), whether it's me talking about an AFL side, or you getting upset with references to it.
How about we all just play on and do our best to accept the new reality?

I've accepted reality and I'm aware I can't change it, might be a pointer for others.
Thanks.

Booney you're going to hear worse on the terraces, and not going to the footy would hardly be the answer.
This isn't going to help your cause, I appreciate, but I do think it's reasonable for fans to be upset about getting belted by a team of principally AFL-listed players.

Considering it too. Had a read of the Talking Footy 'Mission Statement' the other day. Hmmmm is all I need to say.
Re: Channel 7 the SANFL preferred broadcaster for 2014
I think an element of reference to the AFL sides, and disparity between their resources and traditional SANFL clubs, is always going to exist on any level of discussion concerning the SANFL, be it a Forum, at a Ground, in the Pub. Hopefully it minimises though, because it does take away from the details of games as Booney has said. Probably requires a little bit of "give and take" for the moment, irrespective of which side of the fence an individual sits.

Re: Channel 7 the SANFL preferred broadcaster for 2014
I'm a bit bemused by this. Can some examples be given of what people are objecting to?
(I don't consider referring to Port as an 'AFL' side is enough to give up posting, surely).
I think TFSA is pretty mild in its criticism compared to most.
What is the alternative, that we delete any comments that might upset Port fans?
I'm happy for serious and constructive ideas, that's what we're about.

I think this is a sound post.
Until there is a level playing field for all clubs, there is going to be debate about the new sides.
It is similar to the ongoing debate about sanfl zones and the inequities in those.
It may not appear so to some, but I am trying to come to grips with the new sanfl, but do struggle with the inequities of it.
That may require some temperance on my part. I accept that.
But if we can't talk about these matters at all and must just accept what the "powers that be" dictate, then I am afraid I may as well not bother with this forum.
There still very real and meaningful issues that surround this new 10 team competition.
If the position is adopted "just move on and don't talk about it for evermore", then I think I am done.

It seems that some posters will leave if we talk about the AFL influence with Port and some will leave if we don't.
Perhaps time to take a deep breath and allow a bit of give and take, as Scrunch suggests.

Re: Channel 7 the SANFL preferred broadcaster for 2014
I just don't want to hear every week about unfair this and unfair that.
I get a few people are angry as they are revisiting 1990 again.
But I'm begging some posters, please post about how your club might be able to win games, how they might take the game on, just like you would post for every other match against the remaining 8 teams.
It's like me wishing for State-of-Origin football to return - can't keep living in the past.
