Re: Channel 7 the SANFL preferred broadcaster for 2014
i must admit it all reads well & we'll have to wait & see what eventuates, my concern is whether live games will create future increased attendances or will it mean a further decrease in attendances ?
to be honest i think on a very cold & wet night i'd more than likely decide to stay home, be warm & save money by not going to neutral games, obviously i'd go to Glenelg games even if it is snowing

agree with r&b's sentiments

It's actually an interesting point you raise. I've always thought it would be a good idea to have the numbers on the front of the jumpers, as well...
They obviously do it in the Under 18's comp and they have it at league level in the WAFL. I think it would be a good thing...

I'd be curious as to your comments on what wasn't professional about the ABC TV coverage, waddyamean?

Not wise to assume things, Phil. It was also not as much as a question as some information that is out there and was introduced for discussion on a relevant thread.

I agree with everything you have written. I would have to say that Chris Kendall was the best commentator. I hope he remains part of the radio commentary team.
Chris also made an interesting comment when interviewing Andy Collins last year. I think I'm right. In saying that he rated the Bloods side of 1983 as the best he has seen in the SANFL

A new set of jumpers have just arrived at Westies ETTG. and no numbers on the front.eartotheground wrote:Will clubs be wearing small numbers on the front of jumpers this year to assist media?

Back in the Warrior days, Woodville players used to have their numbers on the front of their shorts (if you look at my avatar in all its glory you can definitely see the number on Skeeta's shorts)

U18 & U16 have numbers at front. If nothing else it assists the scouts or others who analyse the game & videos.
To my understanding is NOT happening at league level.
To make happen this decision would be needed to be done in Sept / Oct before clubs order jumpers for the next season.

Big Phil is right, only the under 18's have numbers on the front of the jumper, has been for a couple of years now.

I hadn't noticed it until last night--I thought it looked ok but it is clashing with all the other things written on the Guernsey's (sponsors etc.)

Re: Channel 7 the SANFL preferred broadcaster for 2014
Has anybody heard if Channel 7 will broadcast outside SA?
It would be sad if they don't. There's quite a big SA expat population living in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, and of those, many are of the age to have grown up following SANFL. I also imagine many non-expats across the whole country would watch live broadcasts of early SANFL games at the pub on their way to AFL matches.

People keep asking that to the SANFL on their facebook page but the SANFL don't seem to want to answer it, possibly not a good sign.

Yes, sapaul. Not a good sign.
I've just called (08) 8342 7777 to ask about telecasting interstate and got the response "...ät this stage, only being televised in Adelaide". I hope they mean SA not just Adelaide. If there are enough interested people asking Ch7 about telecasting outside of SA, they may do something about it. Will ask on their facebook page too.

Or at the very least pop it up on Plus7 like the ABC used to do in iView.

And I hope they mean SA and not just Adelaide. We get 7Mate in the country so we should receive the coverage.
Re: Channel 7 the SANFL preferred broadcaster for 2014
The Crows will have 5 of their first 14 games televised.
http://www.afc.com.au/news/2014-03-14/-sanfl-crows-set-for-live-tv
Also, the article says that 4/5 matches each week will be on radio. Does this mean RPH and Life FM will each be doing 2 games every week, or has a new radio broadcaster come on board?

SANFL or Channel 7 still have not mentioned whether games will be televised interstate.

times change and people change especially in media, hope the new broadcaster gives the same passion and love for the league that ABC did. was clear how much the team loved doing the SANFL and wont be quite the same without the crew there each week. surprised seven didnt take any of them
