You never want coaches/officials and players making physical contact however slight so I think Bode and Bassett wil cop a penalty and deservedly so. Its hard to know how they will penalise the coach.
Bode should cop a heavy penalty for punching an opposition coach in the head from behind in which most would call a cowardly attack.
And they should attest to what has just been said

They will have the witnesses and will find out exactly what happened.
Listen, if someone is going to come on here and make allegations, the very LEAST they could have done was actually witness it. Heresay doesn't provide evidence of guilt. I just wonder how understanding you would be if a Norwood supporter made the same allegation against a West player. My guess is, not at all.

I agree, AH, which is why I've consistently said to wait until the Tribunal decides.
As for me, I'll say more after that.

perhaps as an official you shouldn't say anything before or after the tribunal hearing as it may get you in strife

Certainly not before, Bayman.
I'm well aware of my responsibilities as an official and always try to abide by them.
Almost all of what I post is as a lover of Westies and footy.

The tribunal has had their quite lengthy deliberation and the following verdicts have been decided upon:
Andy Collins - Pleaded guilty to abusive language PENALTY = $2,000
Nathan Bassett - Found guilty of assaulting West coach Andy Collins PENALTY = $5,000
Jace Bode - Found guilty of assaulting West coach Andy Collins PENALTY = 3 MATCH SUSPENSION

Another interesting tweet from James. Seems like Bassett was pretty close to being suspended...
in yet another tweet, ABC's James Coventry wrote:

Panel reluctantly agreed to fine Bassett instead of suspending him after submissions from the #SANFL and Collins

at least the saga is over finally. norwood oughta feel a bit peed off by it all, if collo says nothin, then nothin happens, but also gotta keep ya hands to yourself along the way.
few people gotta live and learn from it all along the way. bit less trial by media not a bad idea along the way.

Some fairly inconsistent penalties handed out accross the whole game really. Some unusual incidents. Still think Birss deserved more, cowardly act.

Some precious commentary here.
When has Collins had a history of shooting his mouth off?
The penalties accurately reflect the actions of each individual.
Being guilty of verbal abuse doesn't automatically lead to being assaulted.

I suppose I can now say that I witnessed the whole thing from about a metre away and gave evidence by phone to the Tribunal hearing.
There were several witnesses and the Tribunal decision should be respected as being totally appropriate.
No spin or sour grapes needed. Chris Davies' statement is also appropriate and the best thing everyone could do is to take note of what he and the tribunal have said and move on.

I guess the concern is there were many that witnessed the event and so many different versions. Anyway it shouldnt have happened and you would hope those involved to whatever extent have learnt that its not acceptable.

Seems SOME sections of the NFC have trouble with the truth from the top down to the bottom. Slow learners at the parade. Shame for the majority at the club who do tell the truth and operate under the assumption that others around them do as well

100% Agree.
Collins has a history of shooting his mouth of, will like to see a much harsher penalty when it happens next time (it shouldn't take someone to swing a punch to get reported).
Please enlighten me of Andy Collins history of shooting his mouth off big clock.

Pathetic, bc.
I stand next to him at every game and he just doesn't do that.
You never stand next to him, but you seem to think you know what he does.
Testy would know him 1000 times better than you.
I think you're the one shooting his mouth off.

Do you go to many West games Testy?
Next game, go and stand near the coaches box and tell me he didn't shoot his mouth off at someone.
I go to every game as I work for the club on match day Bigclock and he simply doesn't do as you claim,so get your facts right.
Worry about your own coaches flaws.
