2013 Reports & Tribunal Discusion
There were 2 players reported from Round 1 last weekend and both were captains of their respective clubs...
Glenelg Skipper Ty Allen and Port's leader James Mieklejohn have both had their cases thrown out and will be free to play this weekend...

Zac Milbank wrote:Glenelg captain Ty Allen was reported for striking South Adelaide’s John McDonald. The SANFL Review Panel withdrew the report – it deemed Allen was attempting to tackle and accidental contact was made to McDonald with his inner arm.
Port Adelaide captain James Meiklejohn was reported for making forceful front-on contact with Norwood’s Darren Pfeiffer. The SANFL Review Panel withdrew the report – it deemed contact was made to Pfeiffer’s shoulder while Meiklejohn stood his ground.

Re: 2013 Reports & Tribunal Discusion
A strange report from the Friday night reserves game, to be heard tonight - West's runner for the night, Adam Hartlett, reported for abusive language, by Eleni Glouftsis.
His poor tribunal record could be a factor here.

Some of the umpiring decisions in the reserves were as bad as you can get, no wonder Hartlett was frustrated

Ditto. As I said elsewhere "The umpiring in the reserves made you think you were watching an under 8 game, where every bit of body contact was penalised.

A couple of reports from the SANFL tribunal effecting Westies...
Not sure about the Fielke incident, but you can clearly see what Birss is cited for, at about the 6:10 minute mark of 'The Recovery Session', as below:

Shane Birss (West Adelaide FC) – offered a 2 Match Penalty for making contact with an injured player. He has until 9am Tuesday 23 April to decide whether he will contest his charge.

Extremely average conduct by a 'senior' player. One of the lowest acts to hit an injured player. The term 'p!ssweak' comes to mind.
Unfortunately I agree and as I've said elsewhere deserved 5 matches. Very uncharacteristic though.

If that information is correct, they are both going to struggle to meet the deadline for contesting the charges.

I guess if you aren't an Eagles player, it wouldn't be 4-5 matches

The Fielke incident was for striking Bode. It certainly could have been avoided and deserved a penalty of some kind. I didn't see the Birss contact and wasn't sure why some people around me took a dislike to Birss ... until I just saw the footage. Ordinary stuff, but you see that sort of crap go on at AFL level. Scott brothers on Riewoldt springs to mind.

I think the difference with the Reiwoldt incident was that he was running of the ground and not laying on the ground injured, but injured is injured.

Oh, I agree, I was just suggesting that Birss had a fair education in the ways of the AFL, an environment where that kind of thing not only passed unpunished, but was encouraged in some quarters. Birss' action may have been more reflex than nasty.

Re: 2013 Reports & Tribunal Discusion
Birss in my opinion is getting off very lightly, not good. It will be interestingbto see what happens at the tribunal with Bassett, Collins and Bode. You never want coaches/officials and players making physical contact however slight so I think Bode and Bassett wil cop a penalty and deservedly so. Its hard to know how they will penalise the coach.

Bode should cop a heavy penalty for punching an opposition coach in the head from behind in which most would call a cowardly attack.

Allegedly. Caution should be taken with things until proper process followed.

Did you see that happen?

I don't think it's wise to canvas what people may or may not have seen, or to make statements as to what a player may or may have done, until the Tribunal makes its decisions.
They will have the witnesses and will find out exactly what happened.
