Actually I have no issues . If the eagles recruit again I’ll let others post about it on this forum .

No problem to post about the Eagles, just don't post personal attacks, mate.

Without going into details, there is more to these two leaving than “just money” if indeed they are getting more, it’s much more to do with “other stuff”

Definitely getting less at the Eagles, just wanted out. The CDFC seems to be split, followers of Geoff Andrews and those who are not. Menzels were big followers of Andrews. Only signed for a year.

Geez, how’s those West supporters. Thrown the dummies out the cot?

No one is playing SANFL for money with this salary cap.

Seems most of these recruits have come from former NEAFL clubs who are no longer competing in a 2nd Tier competition. The Menzel’s have approached the Eagles. Being the best club in the best competition outside the AFL has its attraction.

I’d rather have the Menzel’s than Sutcliffe and Knight - who were zoned to the Eagles as juniors but have no affinity with the club after leaving. The skill level of the Menzel’s is also a fair way above those two.

Waiting for Redden, Tsitas and Mansell to sign and see what happens with the AFL draft. Hopefully Petrenko will return to have one last crack at a flag.

Powell and Sheedy would know exactly what interstate recruits would go through - both being highly successful crossing to SA themselves. That would have its advantages too.

The new salary cap averages out to about $550 per game per player, without taking base payments into account at all.

Exactly. No one is playing for money in the SANFL given the commitment needed. You could make more being a security guard at Adelaide Oval for a year.

They’re either playing to get into AFL, playing in the best competition they can attain or playing for their mates, coach and/or club. The exception to this could be if the club has organised employment outside of football for them.

On this last point of Clubs providing employment, South Adelaide are a long way ahead of other Clubs. For 2019, it was rumoured that South's ability to provide Broadbent a better job was the main point in winning his signature and again, in 2020, beating Glenelg for Gibbs signature.
Clubs with big private business supporters like Norwood might have an advantage in including a better employment opportunity in their package to recruits.
Is James Tsitsas still on the radar or is he delaying his decision. Advantage with Tsitsas is that we've tasted what he provides from last season - commitment and elite performance. With Riley Knight that may be so but we don't know. Can we afford both!!!!

Right, so it's just a free for all then? You'd be happy with North signing 12 players from interstate or other SANFL clubs, because they just want to play in a strong comp?
Shifting players and their partners (and sometimes kids) from interstate is not easy, and takes more than the promise of a couple of hundred bucks a week. Of course, the Eagles may well have secured all 8 recruits fabulously well paid jobs in SA, in which case the WWTFC should consider running as an alternative government.

Get your club in order and you might attract some decent players.
A club takes a different track from their normal middle of the road approach and get absolutely slaughtered for doing so.

Just very sour grapes.

There's no sour grapes or any other issues, I just think it's extremely hard to believe that your club can recruit this heavily and stay under the cap. Is that such an unreasonable view to hold?

'A different track from the normal middle of the road approach'

There is something called 'arithmetic', to quote Bill Clinton.

To entice high profile players to your club requires more than a 'better culture'. Money is almost always the key issue, the other factors come into play when offers are roughly similar.

To fit several high profile players into a vastly reduced cap requires very good employment opportunities (which are allowed), or speculation as to how several key players can be fitted into a tiny cap is reasonable.

It's not sour grapes, it's about the integrity of the competition.

Jobkeeper actually increases the 2021 cap a bit, because some payments are covered until March, so the $210K is actually a bit more than that.

Perhaps not enough to cover several high-end recruits, though Smile

I’ve kept quiet and I will . Seems when the eagles announced their latest recruit on Facebook. A west Adelaide offical or worker posted on that post querying the salary cap .
Seems west people are more upset than others .
I’m not digging at anyone just seems funny now a west Adelaide worker is saying it in social media 🤷‍

That’s enough from me

Not picking on him but not smart saying what he did with his real name and his Facebook page says he works for west Adelaide football club
So i know his name

That’s all I will say except perhaps the footy club should tell employees not to post on other clubs pages

these threads are supposed to 'ALL THINGS' regarding the respective clubs, all i've read recently is trolling & whingeing....if ANY club breaks the salary cap deliberately they will eventually be caught

I am obviously a neutral fan & i know Glenelg have spoken to 4 players that signed with other clubs for whatever their reasons were, that's life.....now lets put this slanging match between predominately West & Eagles supporters to bed & PLEASE READ THIS PROPERLY

EAGLES have lost several players & will likely lose more to the draft.......that FREES UP MONEY/CONTRACTS & the NEED to replace them

EAGLES have recruited players to REPLACE those leaving (for whatever reason) this would leave the money more or less equal from season 2019

YES I KNOW THE CAP IS DIFFERENT TO PREVIOUS YEARS & THERE WAS NO PAYMENTS LAST YEAR

BUT THE FACT REMAINS IF PLAYERS LEAVE, THOSE PLAYERS HAVE TO BE REPLACED

I'VE RAMBLED ON BUT I THINK THE POINT HAS BEEN MADE

I know I said I would never respond to you Bayman but well said .
And if I post signings all I hear is salary cap breaches so i won’t post new signings on this forum again .
As I posted before others can post signings up
I am truly over reading cap breaches
