Club Financials
South Adelaide returned a cash profit of 30-40k this year. A modest profit .yes- but a massive improvement on recent years.
SAFC has also appointed the leagues first female Chair- retired Justice Margaret Nyland -a longtime passionate supporter of the club.

A better result financially. Do you know if an annual report or set of financials are available?
They weren't sent out to members last year either, and despite a request for a copy I couldn't land one.

I didn't go to the Eagles AGM
One thing I'm hearing is the Eagles saved $17'000 but not training
At Thebarton oval this year's pre season oval a fraction of that price .

I think if I am reading it correctly, The Eagles ended the year with a deficit of $34,109. Probably the good part, if a loss is good, is that there was a considerably smaller than normal contribution from the licensed club. The Licensed club could have transferred more t balance the books if needed. Accountant Hey?? I don't understand it all.

I believe Sturt announced an operating surplus of $500K tonight.
4 years of profit in a row. Been a long time since that has happened.
Very different to the dark years prior to that.
However the club has to find $500K toward the $4M redevelopment of the oval grandstand / changerooms. Not small coin, but other grants have funded the rest.

Goddy I can't quote on my phone for some reason. Yes does seem strange but accountants tend to be .
One Day we may hear why the summer training oval move took so long . From $17'000 to a tiny tiny amount why has the move taken so long .yes I was a Torrens fan but sometimes Price beats memories imho.

Re: Club Financials
I read with interest in the Messenger the news that the Eagles are concerned at their electricity bill is becoming too excessive. To help alleviate this they have approached it seems, a sympathetic local council, for a reduction in rent to help them out. Full credit to the Eagles on this, it must be nice to have your local council help out when it can.
However , I also read with interest that the local Mayor who had clearly looked over the Eagles Financials in deliberating over this request mentioned that the Eagles should reduce their spending on players to help with their plight.
" Mayor Angela Evans backed cutting the club’s costs but criticised the fact that the club spent $430,000 on 53 Eagles players.
“I actually don’t think that Woodville West Torrens Football Club is poor, not when it is paying up to $430,000 across 53 players,” Ms Evans said.
I had to read this three times, to make sure I wasnt seeing things......Discuss..

Re: Club Financials
Well it speaks for itself doesn't it?
Every club gets a little bit of help from somewhere every now and then and I'm not against it. Our peppercorn lease of Noarlunga will be held against us every time we want to weight in on situations like this, but we've pumped a lot of money into that venue.
But it is interesting that the Mayor has looked at their situation very black and white. Basically you want hand out but seemingly spend a lot elsewhere.
The Eagles will have eased their player payments significantly with the loss of McGregor, Wundke and then ultimately Almond, but I shudder to think how much they threw at Sharrad to get him and then his two mates which have followed.

Guess I see or read a lot of non eagles fans complaining of Eagles
Paying too much for players yet the Eagles don't go over the cap . And players want to play for the Eagles from other clubs I didn't attend the meet the new players I'm told the ex Port players were not glowing in their comments of Port .
But the Eagles saved $17'000 not renting thebbie oval and now have a peppercorn rent on their preseason ground

I'm just a fan
You sound like you'd rather just go online and moan about the Eagles
Smells like your a wee bit jealous of other teams who aren't south to take eyes off a team that didn't do much on the ground in 2017

Not jealous, just like to see clubs adhering to the rules.
We missed the finals by a kick; like West and Glenelg we are operating on a lower cap that punishes us because we are going through tough times financially- figure that out if you can!!!!!! it makes it particularly difficult to retain players from the clutches of rival clubs that have a more generous cap - puts us at arms length when trying to recruit as well.
Yet another puzzling and bewildering direction from the SANFL.

The salary cap is $430,000 for League and Reserves.
One or two clubs have a lower cap.

Perhaps, but many would be sympathetic to blueandwhite's argument about different salary caps.
