What does your club need?
8 sides need to improve and one needs to stay on top.
What does your club need to get better, in terms of recruits?

Re: What does your club need?
From West spoint of view we need
1. A key Forward
2. 2 Classy midfielders
3. A key defender
This is based on the loss of players such Caruso x2, Fisher and Fergy (if he goes)

Who cares he gets what he wants as far as I am concerned, so long as we continue with 3 finals appearances in 3 years , lowest 3rd and 2 Grand Finals, 1 lost by the smell of an oily rag and the other we won comfortably
cheers,
cheers,

Port Adelaide - a coach.
Can anyone remember another time when a SANFL club has started pre-season training without a coach in place?

Re: What does your club need?
Sturt - money needed, quality recruits unaffordable, losing players, total reliance on AFL listed players. Need a lot of luck.
Port Magpies - lost good players for obscure reasons, new coach, need to recruit well. Need a lot of luck.
South - Had great forwards, no key defenders. Have lost Ainger, will recruit a key defender, I'd think. Have a great midfield and may not be far away.
Glenelg - will continue to blood and develop juniors. Should have a better season, but have a lot of ground to make up.
Eagles - Seem to be a safe haven for players from other clubs trying out. Depends on who they recruit. Forward line looks potent, need key defenders and a quick midfielder.
Central - Plenty seem to be deserting the ship, but they needed a clean-out and will be better for playing their talented younger players. Will no doubt recruit some good players and look for a different side.
North - Have lost a key forward, a great midfielder and will wait on the draft, but have picked up well from other clubs. Should be thereabouts.
West - will be written off, I suspect, but depending on the draft with Tippett, they should be able to replace ther losses and will again be hard to beat.
Norwood - they're a long way ahead of the rest. They'll lose some good players, but have several coming back and will recruit further to add to their long list of good players. Big favourites to make it two in a row.
Of course, it's only November and usually no-one can predict the finishing order even at the start of the season.

Just on Norwood, yes we've lost some players, yes their replacements will be quality players, but not so sure on the recruitment. There's a thing called a salary cap, and now Phillips is not on the Power list we will be restricted with recruitment in 2013.

There has actually only been 3 official OUTS from Central, at this stage...
Chris and James Gowans and Chad O'Sullivan...
The rest is hearsay and rumours...
I guess tomorrow night when the Dogs start Pre-Season traning, more will be revealed...

Re: What does your club need?
It is interesting. Only one club requires money in this analogy.
Sturt have and will recruit, and yes without large sums being involved.
But I am increasingly of the view that success in this league is (in order) about;
1 A solid gameplan with a coach who can impart such a message.
2 Players that respond to the said gameplan and also club culture that the coach want to invoke. (The doggies had this 2000-2010)
3 Depth of playing list, including a track record of finals success in the reserves
4 A solid U18 program (again including finals success)
5 A club (admin and footy dept) ethos that demands success and backs it up with action
And then off-field, and without proper hi-lighting here, a manageable debt.
That one is our given, aside from any season to season fluctuations.

Again I agree, Chambo.
There are several clubs who need more money, including my club.
That lack of funds will impact on recruiting and I believe Sturt have bigger financial problems than any other club by a fair way.
I sincerely hope they overcome it and find a rescuer or two.
