AH,
how many do you think 'could' be drafted from the senior list ?
how many do you think will retire or 'go home' ?
would any of that matter ? given what we saw after you lost Gooringe, Lower, Puopolo & Duigan, they still played very well, didn't they ?

A bucket load of money!
But seriously, 2 tall key position players. Coad is perhaps one, but he can play anywhere, so 2 more would be good.
Fast tracking the development of the 20 - 50 games players would be fantastic too.
On the flip side, I think there are 3 or 4 100+ game players that will not take us forward and perhaps need to be moved on. We had a few of those happen mid-season.

Picking up Cachia and Batsanis were a Godsend this season. I still cannot believe Carlton dropped him off their list, especially when you see some of the ordinary players getting a game for them this season. If Cachia isn't re-drafted this year, I'll be astounded.
Gallagher's gone, Jericho will miss at least half the season, and I would doubt if he'll come back at all. There's doubt over Zorzi, although I'm hopeful he'll play another season. Batsanis is very well catered for in Victoria, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him return home, I hope not. I fear that at least one AFL coach will love Terlich's pace and ferocious tackling. Aish, or course, will play one more season.
We lost Puopolo, Duigan, etc, but since then, we've lost a lot of handy SANFL players who have rotted in B grade competitions around Australia for the past 2-3 years, there would be at least a dozen of them. Hopefully that may discourage AFL recruits who think Norwood is the goose that lays the golden egg.
McGuinness, Campbell, Newton and Fuller will all be virtual recruits who will halp offset most of the AFL Tsunami for this season at least.

An attacking coach or a change in coaching philosophy 2013 where we play a minimum of a five man forward line no matter who they are

Yes, that is possibly what has annoying me most about our ever-changing game. It has created an unstable environment where players swap and change states in order to create the most attention for AFL recruiters.
What I wouldn't give for the old days where kids played juniors and then progressed to senior level of their local clubs, and played the rest of their careers there.
That's when football had a soul.

unfortuneately this rarely if ever happens now, most kids (rightly so) eye-balls the AFL & the SANFL teams are just a stepping stone, if they don't make it some will stay but the majority will go home or go to the highest bidder, very sad imho

That's true to a degree, but I find generally the player still plays for the jumper while he is wearing it. James Aish, who was brought up in a Norwood environment, certainly does, as does Jarryd Cachia who came over to Norwood for possibly only 1 year on his way to the AFL. Then you hear 2nd year recruits such as Matt Suckling speak openly of his love for the club.
Mind you, we've had some AFL listed players over the years who just went through the motions when playing for Norwood, so it's always frustrating. Then you get some recruits who think SANFL is just a stroll in the park, and shoot through when they find it harder than they expected.
For South, I've always considered it a pity they didn't move south prior to the Crows joing the AFL in 1991, they may have had a better chance of building a community flavour towards the Panthers.
They've recruited quite well from interstate, but those players didn't hang around for whatever reason. It must be frustrating for South supporters when their club continues to tick boxes but come up empty handed.
My club was a basket case in 2009, we had less than South have now, so there's always hope for anyone.

Yeah it was great to read the article on McGuiness and to see how he's picked up on the tradition and sense of history that Norwood has. I don't think many AFL players expect to find this at sub-AFL level.
