Round 17: Eagles v Adelaide - Sunday 20 August @ Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval
Eagles v Adelaide
Sunday 20 August
Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval
League: 2:10pm
The Eagles must've gone to Noarlunga via the Bermuda Triangle last weekend, while the Crows got the job done over North. Will the Eagles bounce back, or will the Crows keep the Eagles form funk going?

if the Eagles' can't win this at home then either they are in an extra training session for a month to build up to supreme physical fitness in preparation for the finals (which i think maybe the case) or the wheels have fallen off to some degree, Eagles by 7 points after being 39 points up early

Big day at Woodville, the annual Eagles Community Carnival Day.
Hopefully the weather is good and crowd huge.

Wouldn't get many huge crowds the Eagles.
Actually, A 4000+ crowd on Sunday would be the 6th time in the last 6 seasons for an Eagles Home Game.
Only Norwood, Glenelg have a greater number of "huge crowds" over the past 6 seasons.
Over this time 4000+ Home Crowds (2012-17)
16 - Norwood
12 - Glenelg
5 - Eagles & Port
2 - Central & North
1 - Sturt & South
0 - West
Eagles 4000+ Home Games last 6 seasons
2012 - 4,566 Opening Rd v Port
2012 - 4.054 v Central ANZAC Day
2014 - 4,247 v Port Easter Monday
2015 - 4,689 v Crows Carnival Day
2016 - 4,252 v Crows Carnival Day
2017 - ?
Also if 4,900 turn up it will be the largest crowd of the SANFL Season so far.

I don't quite understand what you mean by "without these teams" but I'll happily put up the home crowd figures for each club for the season so far .... after Sunday
Most clubs have already played their blockbusters (ie North with Good Friday & Queens Birthday games at Prospect for the 1st time) ... this week it is our turn.

Eagles will have been torn a new one after last week's insipid display so I would expect them to come out firing. I think a 5 goal victory is on the cards.

I was there Crows were the better team up to 1/2 time
Better but slow Eagles were absolutely crap
At some point eagles were down a man Paul Stewart disappeared at some point .
Eagles came out in the third 7 goals down clawed their way back . Stopped playing the slow Crows style and started running the Eagles game
Well done Eagles

Good preview
Woodville West Torrrens were 7 goals down and won by 11 points
Must have been one heck of a fightback to win

Was there a wind advantage for the whole game ?
Did it subside in the last quarter ?
It dropped off at Alberton late in the game, the same at Woodville Oval ?

When the rain came th wind dropped or died
First quarter eagles wasted the wind
Crows blocked the southern end up which caused the Eagles issues
So part way through the third it started to drop

A game of two halves.
Crows played against the wind well in the first quarter, stifling the ball from the Eagles with 48 marks. Two goals and very few stoppages because of the amount of uncontested possession also meant the Crows only had to defend for a quarter that lasted less than 25 minutes.
First half
Score - Eagles 1.3, Adelaide 6.8 (-35 points)
Disposals - Eagles 151, Adelaide 211 (-60)
Marks - Eagles 30, Adelaide 78 (-48)
Second Half
Score - Eagles 9.5, Adelaide 2.1 (+46 points)
Disposals - Eagles 167, Adelaide 104 (+63)
Marks - Eagles 41, Adelaide 34 (+7)

What stats don't show Crows had the Eagles on toast .
Or the Eagles were dead in the water
Size difference helped the Crows
It also hindered the crows
Big boys so to speak grabbing marks in front of goals dead straight 11 metres out .
Then plays on bounces the ball through for a point
Things like that hurt the Crows
Eagles seemed to love kicking the ball to Seedman in the eagles forward line .
Little things hurt both teams
But the Eagles down one Paul Stewart dug themselves out of a big hole and got back in the winning spot light

Out of interest , how many tickets are given away for this game .
As a starting point Crows have 76,000 members, if they are all ticketed members they all have free entry. Through our activities around our junior zone and local community we added to that figure a little bit.
I'll be back later with some crowd figures as promised

OK so crowds for SANFL v SANFL games ... leave with me
Lot of "traction" left at the BBQ / Canteen compared with a normal game.
