Hey Folks,
The show is on again tonight, as we close in on the home stretch of our pre-season club previews. Not long now and we will be discussing the teams with the season proper upon us.
We always look to diversify the guest list and tonight we look forward to speaking with new SANFL CEO Jake Parkinson amongst some of the senior coaches in the SANFL.
Make sure you tune in tonight, and every Thursday night from here on in, to 1197am RPH Adelaide, 8pm until 9pm, and catch all of latest SANFL news and interviews.
Tonight's guest list will include the following:
8:10pm - Jake Parkinson (New SANFL CEO)
8:20pm - Ken McGregor (North Adelaide Coach)
8:30pm - Mick Godden (Eagles Coach)
8:40pm - Brad Gotch (South Adelaide Coach)
Next Thursday night we will have the Grand Final teams edition with a Norwood and Port representative, as well as a couple of other special guests...
We hope you can tune in and enjoy the show and look forward to 2015.
Cheers,
Phil Aspinall

north fans must love the show. 9 of the 13 shows listed on this page have north players or coaches. central and norwood seem to get a great run too.
port, south and glenelg get 5.

Hatchet, the format of the show is that a representative from each of the home teams gets on the show...
This means that some have had more guests than others, yes, but it should all balance out in the end, except for Adelaide...

Try West with 4, Hatchet.
Phil, I think it's time to change the format. If you're playing away, not a lot of point listening.
A more even look at each game would be better, with only a couple of interviews thst might interest all listeners.

It all balances out, in the end, Lee...
The current format has worked for how ever long the show has been running...
The show is about reading the teams out and then chatting to guests involved in said games...
I think we cover that format, as it is. We have also had more than 4 guests from West on this year, if you include Rubbers a couple of times, also...

Re: Thursday Night SANFL Show - 1197am RPH Adelaide
its never going to be perfect and there will always be some that doesnt work out, but how does it balance out for glenelg, for one, if they have only had 5 of the shows listed above? they wont make finals so its not likely people would want to hear from them in the finals shows. does that mean no more north for the rest of the minor round to keep it balanced also, and no more central and then hope that central dont make the finals, to keep it even?
not an easy job you have phil and you do a good job of promoting the league, but working on what is listed on here, it seems uneven with some clubs getting a better run that others (adelaide aside as they have separate issues with home teams)

Was prepping a couple of rib eyes for dinner last night and flicked the radio on and AA had their *ahem* SANFL show on.....Heath Younie, from Adelaide was the guest.
Spoke about how he, in his new role at Adelaide, will not coach the SANFL side when the AFL side is away and it clashes with the SANFL games.
Spoke about the AFL players pretty much.
Good work..AA....

Phil, you say the format works. Who says so?
What it does is to give no reason for an away team supporter to listen, surely?
I agree with you that it balances out, up to a point only. If, say, a West home game in Indigenous round is filled by an opposition player, that's effectively a difference of two between them, on a schedule where West fans get 8 appearances only in 18 games.
Surely a more in depth discussion of each game would be fairer to all than cutting out any interest for half the supporters each week?
I say this trying to be constructive about what I think is a tired and unbalanced format.

Re: Thursday Night SANFL Show - 1197am RPH Adelaide
i would think with now 5 games on most weekends, it would be difficult to get 10 guests on & give them all enough time to give listeners a reasonable interview & insight into the upcoming match in what would be 12 minutes per match less adds, maybe it'd go down to 8 or 9 minutes per match.........................perhaps just thinking off the cuff that the boys in the studio could spend some time to scrutinize each game, with match ups etc, have one guest with maybe the 'star search' winner of the week & the listeners can gain an insight to those young players coming through, either way apart from when working i'll still be listening
