Roosters Internal.
In 36 degree heat at 10.30am, the Roosters had their first internal hit out. With Bennett, Alleway, Backwell, Ivens, Dempsey, Currie, Mayes, Gallman, Kangur, Thiele, Williams and Cunningham sidelined for various reasons, 2 full teams, with extra players in waiting, took the field for 4 20 minute quarters.
After a shaky first quarter, the movement of the ball became much slicker, with some pinpoint hand and foot passing. There were still times when there appeared indecision, which resulted in turn overs, but that may also have been attributed to the tackling. No quarter was asked or given.
Both teams had a key forward to aim for, Boras for red who finished with 4-3 and McMahon (the under 19 leading goal kicker) who finished with 4-0 for white.
Red seemed to have the edge with clearances with great work from Ryswyk, Allan, G Thring and Delvins who provided plenty of drive. For white, Michael Virgin got plenty of the ball, but was let down a little by disposal. Kyall Renshaw provided a good source of feeding the ball carriers for red.
Other players to show something were Jake Keller, Power recruit Danny Butcher, Handby (who got quite a bit of the ball), Eagles recruit Stuart Hill, Nick Amato who was busy, Eljay Connors, Dale Armstrong, Josh Coulter, Todd Miles and Luke Teasdale, who was ferret like is his application.
Craig Jamar was carried off in the third quarter with a knee injury.
There was a lot to like about the run and carry and mostly slick movement. Next Friday against Norwood will reveal more.
Scores
Red 11-8
White 7-7
Goals:
Red: Boras 4-3, G Thring 2-1, Cumming 2-0, J. Craig 1-0, Clisby 1-0, Ryswyk 1-1, Allan 0-1, Delvins 0-1, rushed 0-1
White: McMahon 4-0, Virgin 2-0, Schahinger 1-0, Armstrong 0-1, Butcher 0-1, Clinch 0-1, rushed 0-4

Thanks, MP.
Nice to get some detail of trial games. I hope Jamar's knee is OK. He trained with West last pre-season.

Re: Trial Games Results/Updates
I'm not going to write an entire report on an internal trial.I was there Friday 24th Feb . A very hot night very little to no wind .For some reason whoever looks after the oval decided to basicly scalp it this week.
I didnt keep score lots of shots on goals missed .Older players were rotated on and off and some didnt return after either 1/2 or 3/4 time .
Recruits who looked good Kris Kane ex the bays couple of us thought BOG.Peter Lindsey ex Port showed a bit starting at halfback .Another Ex bays player in Longbottom showed a bit .Returning Eagles players Summner and Harding showed a bit .Returning Crow not required in sundays game EllisYeoman showed some promise .Youngsters Huppetz andMcDONOUGH showed great promise.
Ex Saints player Eddy may take awhile to get used to SANFL pace .
Usual players who played well, Jarrd,Mackenzie,Powell and CICA up forward .Grocke was kicking goals as normal.
Pace wise with the likes of Lindsey and Summner may add that bit which was missing in 2011.
But internal trials mean nothing just like trials bring on the real stuff and the cooler weather lol

Yes - I believe White was there in the back lines of the white team - it was sometimes a bit hard to determine who was who with players changing teams and not wearing usual numbers, and coming on and off the ground. He didn't stand out to my eyes.

The oval is looking in superb condition and both sides in the reserves ar warming up now, about to kick things off...
Former North skipper Clint Alleway is lining up in the 2's an great to see fellow knee reconstruction club member Alex Stopp back out there for Norwood.

RESERVES:
First Quarter

Roosters - 0.0 = 0

RESERVES:
Quarter Time
Roosters - 3.1 = 19
Norwood - 2.5 = 17
Redlegs were wasteful in front of goal while North made the most of their forward entries with good conversion...
As to be expected, skills were pretty rusty across the board as players are adapting to their first hit out against real opposition...

Half Time
Norwood - 8.11 = 59
Roosters - 4.3 = 27
GOAL KICKERS:
Norwood - P.Persinos 3, S.Baldasso 2, J.Savage, L.Rander, P.Lockie 1
Roosters - M.McMahon, Z.Makins, L.Teasdale, S.Deleonardis 1
Much better quarter of football from the Legs that term, skills were much better and they generally made the most of their opportunities inside 50 (excluding Jimmi Savage who missed a soccer goal from inside the goal square !!) but their pressure all over the ground has forced the Roosters to cough up the ball.
North just faulted under pressure and their skill execution was much worse than the first quarter. Clint Alleway played CHF but the ball came into his area maybe 3 or 4 times for the quarter.
