A sad loss but will be well remembered if not for his many marriages, 8 times.

I watched a movie just the other day with Mickey Rooney in it, not the main character but still played a funny part.

In 2007 Rooney was the only living actor to appear in Silent movies and still be acting into the next century
Rooney was 4 years old when in his first movie
That movie was Not To Be Trusted , a Silent movie made in 1926
Another report says he acted from 1925-2011 [if right that would be the longest career of all actors]

Rooney acted from 1926 to 2007
That also makes him the longest lasting actor for the 81 years
Rooney acted in every decade

Was also a pall bearer at arguably Australia's greatest actor, Errol Flynn

After the Skyline show, Horton and 2 others , were trekking back to Shrevport , Horton was driving
I think we can all guess what happened

A truck driver , driving erratically, crashed into Horton's car
Johnny Horton , who more or less prophesied his death, died in a car accident
The teenage driver was drunk, can you believe it ?

Spare a thought for Hortons wife , singer Billie Jean Jones
She married singer  Hank Williams, who died aged 30
Then married Johnny Horton, who died aged 35
She ends up being widowed twice at the age of 28

Horton died coming home from a show

Ann B. Davis, known for her role as housekeeper Alice on the hit show The Brady Bunch, has died. She was 88 years old.

Davis reportedly fell and hit her head on Saturday morning at her home in Texas and suffered a subdural hematoma, never regaining consciousness, according to CNN. She died at a San Antonio hospital, according to The Associated Press.

Clad in her blue housekeeper's uniform, Davis' character Alice often was the comic relief and kept the Brady household running.

Despite her role as a housekeeper, Davis said she wasn't great with children in real life.

"I basically don't do that well with children, although my sister says I'm a great aunt," she told People magazine in 1992.

Davis was born May 3, 1926 and had planned to attend the University of Michigan to study medicine. She discovered acting thanks to her brother who was touring with the musical Oklahoma!

In the 1950s, she played Schultzy on The Bob Cummings Show. She received a Primetime Emmy Award in 1958 for Best Continuing Supporting Performance by an Actress in a Dramatic or Comedy Series. She won another Primetime Emmy in 1959 for Best Supporting Actress (Continuing Character) in a Comedy Series.

According to the Archive of American Television, Davis had roles on The Keefe Brasselle Show and the sitcom The John Forsythe Show in the 1960s, as well as appearances on the Perry Como Show and Arthur Murray's Dance Party.

After the Brady Bunch ended, Davis did not act much, but did make a cameo appearance as a truck driver in the 1995 Brady Bunch Movie.

Sad passing today of 'Doc' Neeson.

One of the stars of the comedy' The Young Ones' passed away overnight.
Rik Mayal who starred in the comedy way back in the early 80's was 56 years old.
The show was on the ABC and we used to watch it every week, one of our favourites from those days.

Jim Keays the lead singer of the great Australian band "The Masters Apprentices" from the late 60's, early 70's has passed away at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer.

I didn't miss too many episodes of Maverick or The Rockford Files as a kid
Nor as an adult seeing these shows re-shown on Foxtel Classics


The man who is a look a like of the ABCs Neil Cross was just one of those great actors
Garners mother was half Indian

As Maverick he was dangerous as a con man card player with Jacks and Queens
As Rockford worked as a P.I. for $100 a day plus expenses

Truly one of the TV best actors of all time
Certainly one of my favorites

i read a while back that The Rockford Files was made as a modern day (back then) version of Maverick

RIP James Garner

I didn't really follow Rockford Files or Maverick that closely when they were on TV.

The role I remember Garner most famously for was in that fantastic WW2 movie "The Great Escape" as "the Scrounger".

Next time I get Jacks and Queens in a poker game, I'm going to bet the maximum, or kick the maximum

Very sad to hear of Robin Williams death this morning. A great versatile actor who has left us with many wonderful movies. RIP

One of my favourite actors who could play any role he was given from comedy to drama.
Once again that terrible illness depression seems to have taken its toll on him.
