Lilly has also done it pretty tough at times as well, a few years ago she had a very traumatic late term miscarriage which led her to remove herself from public life for quite some time.

I have a lot of respect for her. She is a great role model for young girls IMO.

The curious world of Peter Sellers

In 1964 he hit a peak in his career with four films in release with all of them well-received by critics and the public alike:
Dr. Strangelove for which he was Oscar nominated
The Pink Panther in which he introduced us to the bumbling French Inspector Jacques Clouseau for the first time.
A Shot in the Dark PP's almost accidental sequel and
The World of Henry Orient

Sellers was on top of the world, but on April 5, 1964, he suffered a nearly fatal heart attack after taking amyl nitrites (an early type of Viagara-halogen combination) while engaged in a sexual act with his second wife Britt Eckland.

He had been working on Billy Wilder's "Kiss Me, Stupid" (1964). Wilder later replaced Sellers with Ray Walston rather than hold up production, a move he was later to regret.

By October 1964, Sellers made a full recovery and was working again.

Big year was 1964 for the inimitable Peter Sellers.

I liked Peter Sellers mostly as Clouseau in  Pink Panther

One day his wife Anne answered a door call
Peter was in his study
She was handed a telegram that read
*Bring me a cup of coffee. Peter

It was said (even by Sellers himself) that outside of all the characters he played, he had almost no personality.
This led to a loneliness (even depression) probably never understood by the general movie-going public, but also some of those close to him.

I see a number of parallels between Sellers' life and that of Robin Williams in this respect.

Brilliant characters that come to life on camera, but a a melancholy that existed off it.

BUDDY HOLLY
That'll Be The Day

Buddy got the inspiration to write this song after he heard John Wayne use the line that'll be the day in a movie
That movie was The Searchers

The Searchers was the name of the sensational British Beat group as well

27
A bogey number of sorts for some musicians
There are  several that have died aged 27 , so much so they are categorized and  dubbed in a group listed as the 27 club

Included on a list that are

Dave Alexander [Stooges]
Kurt Cobain [Nirvana]
Richie Edwards [Manic Street Preachers]
Pete Ham [Badfinger]
Jimi Hendrix
Brian Jones[Rolling Stones]
Janis Joplin
Rudy Lewis [Drifters]
Ron Mckernan[Grateful Dead]
Jim Morrison [Doors]
Alan Wilson[Canned Heat]
Amy Winehouse
Mia Zapata [Gits]

My trifecta in order of what I consider musical greatness
1 Jimi Hendrix
2 Kurt Cobain
3 Jim Morrison

LEIF GARRETT

Was the teen idol, the Justin Bieber of the 1970s
Performed as Leif Per
In 1971 he got the old cheque in the mail letter
It was sent to Leif Garrett , and thats how he ends up with his name
I used to think he was a good performer
And yes,I bought his Beach Boys cover version of Surfin USA

Interesting to note Leif was on tour in 1979
The tour schedule was for the period July-September 1979
He made 3 appearances on the 7-8-9th of August
It read
August 7 Jackson, Michigan [I wonder if he went whacko ...]

Heres some Leif Garrett quotes

ASPIRATIONS
" I was going to be a rock star , I was going to be Mick Jagger, you know I was going to be Robert Plant , buts thats not the way it went."

TEEN IDOL
" I think a lot of concert goers would have been happy to see me on stage and I could have just gone LA LA LA LA you know and that would have been fine

AND
" it was no sock ever, it was all me baby."
In reference to the battle of the bulge in his pants !

Coonamble Races 16/5/2015
Three of the runners in this race were :
1 Beegees
2 Bon Honour
13 Letyahairhangdown

3 of the chances, just had to back the Wright one

Beegees opened at $21 and stayed there, there were no specks for it
Beegees ran near last, perhaps a tragedy for those who backed it

Bon Honour started 2nd favorite at $4.20 won the race
The punting Fraternity should follow up on this horse , one to back in black odds next start as well
Its Scott potential plus

Letyahairhangdown, ran second ,anything but an easy beat , started the $2-50 favorite , however the favorite punters who backed it might be feeling sorry for themselves

My trifecta for the lead singer I liked most :
1 Stevie Wright
2 Bon Scott
3 Barry Gibb

" In the early days he would like to go fishing
Anytime he had the opportunity he would go fishing
So one day he told me he was going fishing and he went out to the car and I said you going fishing in your suit ?
He says thats all I have , he says I dont have any other clothes , so I have to go fishing in a suit and it was a silk suit , so he went fishing in a silk suit
It just shows you whatever he wanted to do and however he felt like doing it he would do it no matter what."

PETER NOONE
Actor and lead singer of British band Hermans Hermits
The band gained a measure of popularity on an American tour because it was considered that Noone bore a resemblance to a leader
That leader was President Kennedy , not Henry the Eighth

Happy birthday to Peter Noone who turns 68 today

STATUS QUO
Their rock roots go back to the bands Traffic Jam and The Spectre
The Spectres tried the name Traffic , but there was another band called by that name that included Steve Winwood

Before they became Status Quo there were 2 other band names that were considered :
Queers
Muhammad Ali's

"I wrote actually XXXXXX in 1969 and I gave it to The Seekers, I gave it to Glenn Campbell
I gave it to a bunch of people and they all told me it was the worst song they ever heard , so I never played it again , until 1972 when I did a show for Clive Davis at the Beverley Hills Hotel
And I sat there and did 40 minutes of songs and at the end of that you know he said go in and make a record so I went in and made a record and XXXXXX was not even on it
I wanted to call the record The Air That I Breathe and he played it , he loved it , but he said dont you have any other songs ?
And I said well I got one but its was the worst song Ive ever written.
Play it for me he said , I played it for him and he said, thats the one."

By Albert Hammond
The XXXXXX song that so many knocked back was :
It Never Rains In Southern California
