A day in the history books

The world woke to the news of Nelson Mandela’s passing at the age of 95 years.
One of Mandella’s famous quotes says "Everyone can rise above their circumstances and achieve success if they are dedicated to and passionate about what they do."

Day two at Adelaide Oval saw the Australian and English Teams stand for a minute silence to remember the remarkable man.

Once out on the oval the partnership between Michael Clarke and Brad Haddin needed to progress to give Australia a steady lead for day two.

The first session was solid; Australia gained 126 runs in the first session. Surely at this stage the English would be starting to feel the pressure.

Australia continued their positive energy into the second session. The partnership between Clarke and Haddin saw Australia climb past 450 runs. The partnership was cut short when Clarke was dismissed just two runs shy of 150.

Perhaps the Australian Captain was taking some inspiration from Nelson Mandela himself, rising above circumstances to ensure Australia achieves success.

Haddin took the lead bat and gained himself another test centaury.

Late in the second session, the Australian’s seemed to relax. The wickets of Johnson (5) and Siddle (2) seemed to bring a bit more balance into the match.

Ryan Harris came to the crease shortly before the tea break.
The last session saw Australia lose the important wicket of Brad Haddin on 118. The 41 run partnership between Harris and Nathan Lyon saw Australia declare at the small amount of 570.

Midway through the final session of day two, England finally made it to the center of Adelaide Oval. With a tough ask on their hands already, the task was made much harder with the early dismissal of their Captain Cook with just 3 runs.

Australia is certainly showing they can achieve, because they are dedicated and passionate about what they do.

Stumps was called after England’s 21st over.

The results at stumps:

Australia 9/570 (declared)
England 1/35

Great work, Kelly.

No need for a separate thread for each day, you can just post in this thread.

Looking forward to Day 3.
