Re: Cricket - First Class 2013/14
3 games in a row we should have won outright, but didn't quite make it.
The captain then shows a total lack of discipline by not only bowling himself all day, but being reported on several counts and getting suspended.

Re: Cricket - First Class 2013/14
Channel 7 news on Monday said Phil Hughes was captaining this match but on cricinfo it has the * next to Ferguson so Fergie is acting captain?
McDonald in this team as a batsman only? We don't have a spinner. Easy in hindsight but......

stumps day 2.....
SA 212
TAS 8/507 (a lead of 295)...grinding SA into oblivion for another year & probably doing it for Mark Cosgrove !!!
VIC 210
QLD 5/285 (a lead of 75)...QLD needs points so they'll be trying to get a result
WA 82
NSW 186
WA 5/138 (an overall lead of 34)...definitely a result in this, logically NSW but one never knows given 25 wickets have fallen in just 2 days

Re: Cricket - First Class 2013/14
TAS 651 (Gulbis 229)
SA 123 - lost the last 6 wickets for just 8 runs. Gulbis took 4/7
That was a p-weak performance.
VIC should get a draw against QLD. Should be a NSW vs WA final.
We may yet finish 3rd, only missing the final on quotient or whatever it is.

not only that but WA has won one more game anyway so that would get them in when on the same points

Don't listen to him but let's hope he doesn't jump on the Adelaide United bandwagon then.
Some people you just wish would go back to where they came from. Anyone in WA wanna claim him?

The SACA are holding a 'crisis meeting' in Tassie now?
Berry to be sacked?

Re: Cricket - First Class 2013/14
They need to sack the captain.
Plays for himself and is undisciplined.
Several of the players are fine, young players on the way up.
They lack a good spinner to clean up the tail. And no, that's not Botha.

After playing so well for most of the season they were blown away in there last two games.
The game in Tassie was nothing but a huge embarrassment and at the end of another season they will again finish near the bottom.
It has been 20 years of torture for state cricket supporters.

NSW 7/213 - hung on to win by 3 wickets.
VIC 1/256, almost have scores level so unless a dramatic collapse will draw that game.
Should be a NSW vs WA final. We'll finish 3rd

Re: Cricket - First Class 2013/14
The game against QLD a couple of weeks ago was the one that killed us. Had them on toast and a spot in the final chalked in, but couldn't bowl them out! It's been all downhill since.

Damning article about Botha by Rowdy Mallett. No love lost there for some reason.

Then he wastes the whole article talking about his bowling action.
Plenty to talk about with his lack of discipline and apparent selfishness.

When Botha got the gig as SS captain
Mallett had a big serve about his appointment in the press
It was scathing

Re: Cricket - First Class 2013/14
i didn't have a problem with them recruiting Botha however i do have a problem that firstly they shafted Klinger & gave the captaincy to him & secondly since watching him & his selfish ways that the coach doesn't say anything to him about bowling way too often & too long, if the coach has said something then the bowling longevity hasn't stopped, someone has to go......................btw i think overall Chuck Berry has done a very good job

He was against him from the start because of his past indiscretions, some of which I agree with.

Yes, I think Berry is the right man for the job right now, but he shouldn't be diverted by runs and wickets from upholding team discipline.
