West Reserves v Adelaide Crows
If the Crows win next Friday night, presumably Sturt's Crows players will be eligible to play for Sturt's Reserves next week in the Qualifying Final?
Martin, Jenkins, Tambling, Kerridge, etc, etc.
Makes a bit of a mockery of the Reserves comp if they play and a bit unfair on Sturt's regulars if they're selected.

I don't think they are, r&B, but I could be wrong...
That is why, in part, I think there was talk about a Norwood v Crows' Reserves scratch match?

that is ridiculous if they play for the reserves it would ruin the comp.

Re: West Reserves v Adelaide Crows
As I wrote on another thread I know Brett Ebert did it in his magarey year and a the eagles did it a few years ago with Burton, Biglands and possibly McGregor.
Would be more unsettling for Sturt imo as those players could take the place of someone who has been in the reserves all year and misses out for these guys.
Wouldn't think Jenkins or Martin will play as I reckon they may be called into the crows side.

Good point, Big Phil.
Forgot about that Norwood game. Hope it goes ahead.

Re: West Reserves v Adelaide Crows
I think this answers the question from the viewpoint of SANFL rules.
"Rule: 34.3 If a Member Club‟s higher Division team is no longer playing in the major round:
(a) a player may return to the lower Division for the remainder of any major round matches provided such player played the majority of his minor round matches for the season in the lower Division"
If there is some special dispensation for AFL players I'm not aware of it. But I can say from the Sturt Football Club's point of view, we would not want to play those guys and I'd be surprised if the Crows insisted on it. The lads who've been in the reserves for most of the year, including a number of U18s, deserve the chance to play finals. Since our U18s are also in a qualifying final, we want to give as many of our youngsters as possible a chance in the finals. Next year's A grade is what we're looking at now.

Thanks, CC. Really good post and I'm sure Sturt would think that way.
It's likely West and Sturt might meet in Reserves and 18's and they should be good contests (if West win their first 18's final).

Due to the Crows being beaten, the Norwood match is no longer on the agenda. Norwood will be playing an internal trial game on Friday night.
