Thought I'd put this here as he did play for both South and North (Mods feel free to move)

I just never cease to be amazed by the copius acts of sheer studity perpetrated by footballers. I understand footy is an emotional game but what gets into their tiny little minds?

who was the Collingwood reserves player who head butted an umpire & got 10 years (iirc) ? if a head butt is 10 years then this should be 5 years, i have no problem with players in the heat of the moment giving an umpire 'a spray' but to actually 'touch them' (with intent to hurt or even scare is NOT ON)...accidental contact is a different story

He was handed a 10 year suspension, plus 16 weeks and $2,000 fine for kicking a Swans player in the groin, assaulting the Collingwood runner, assauting the field umpire, and jumping into the crowd to assault a spectator.

His suspension was lifted after 6 years and he ended up coaching the Heidelberg Football Club.

On a lighter note of that incident, how was the loud mouth in the crowd? A real hero until Bourke jumped the fence and belted him Smile

I'm not condoning the act at all, but some people think for the price of admission, they can say whatever they like.

I remember many years ago at the Parade, North Adelaide's Ken Francou injured his arm and was being taken to the rooms by his brother Morrie who was the North runner.

Some hero in the crowd yelled "I hope you broke the bloody thing!!". Morrie wasn't impressed and was going to hurdle the fence, but thought better of it. Just as well, I'd seen Morrie make mince meat of bigger men than the spectator Smile
