Game will be broadcast from 1:30pm on Fox Sports 1 (not Fox Footy, if you set it for Fox Footy you'll be severely punished with GWS v Western Bulldogs )

I'm over here with the team, looking forward to the game. Great opportunity to see some promising players get a game. State squad Under 18's Middleton and Brown will play.
Great trip so far, well done Norwood and Glenelg. That helps the Bloods.

McGovern kicked 8 for Claremont.
We were outplayed by a side that would give most sides in the SANFL a tough contest. There skill level was outstanding as was there pace on the large oval.

From http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/17333/Default.aspx#fixtureid=7907&tab=Teams
15.6 to 1.3 after half time, 9.4 to a point after "lemons".
Is it fair to say that, given the notably abbreviated format, four-quarter stamina is probably less of an issue when compared to a full length league match?
Assuming this, that score-line translates to a major gap in other facets eg, focus, team discipline and structure, skill, overall pace (the latter touched on by GCR.)
- Code:
CLARE 3.1 5.4 11.6 20.10 (130)
WADEL 2.0 3.2 4.4 4.5 (29)
15.6 to 1.3 after half time, 9.4 to a point after "lemons".

Watching the replay now on FOX and great to see some familiar (and very vocal !!) faces, both out in the crowd and in the rooms pre-game.

Beautiful placement in the rooms, BP
Meanwhile, Im continuing to try to forget it at a nice Perth pub.
By the way, someone here tried to play a joke on me and said Robert Shirley made the State squad!
Laugh
Didn,t fool me.

Re: Foxtel Cup - West v Claremont
My club elected not to take part in the Foxtel Cup, so therefore I haven't really paid a lot of attention to it.
However, hearing the score of today's match, and then hearing ABC2 commentators saying there were only 6 regular league players in the West Adelaide team, it got me wondering why West Adelaide are "competing" in this competition.
On the surface, it doesn't seem worth the exercise, and I would think it's a little embarrassing to the SANFL to have one of its clubs belted by a WAFL club in this fashion.
I'm not being judgemental, it's West's decision to participate and I respect that. Is the theory to just trial reserves and junior players and see if they are up to the mark?

I think the travel to Perth in Round 1 may have been a factor.
Agree with you, though, very disappointing all round.

Good point, but there would have been several factors as well.
As I said, though, very disappointing.

Re: Foxtel Cup - West v Claremont
Absolutely Pathetic Effort and the complete blame needs to lie at the foot of the Coach.
I look forward to the CEO of the WAFC coming out and explaining this absolutely weak and soft effort to the general public. Its great to have Night Footy at Richmond and to do what you can to promote the club to get people along to your games, yet if this is indicative of what the Colours and Jumper of the West Adelaide Football Club stand for when challenged by an interstate side is an absolute disgrace.
How many people have bled for the WAFC since it was founded and given everything for it on the field, then we get this, an effort that makes the club look a total and utter joke on the national stage.
The blame lies squarely with the Senior Coach Andy Collins. Its one of two scenarios, Either A, he cant coach at all and picked a poor side and got thrashed accordingly. or B, the game was deliberately thrown, and the Coach and the others that were responsible for the decision deliberately hung disrespect upon the clubs colours and jumper. If either of these scenarios are correct weight them Mark Mickan needs to be in the drivers seat for the next match. If there is more to it and its found that Collins was instructed to do this by the Administration of the club, then they too should be stood down immediately.
My Granddad was one of the most passionate hard core WAFC supporters I have ever known, I cant even begin to think what he would say if he knew that their jumper had been taken out to battle and deliberately sacrificed. Think WAFC members have every right to have a truthful explanation this week from the club and action taken accordingly.
