I remember we played 'Old Easts' at Norwood under lights in a night competition in the 70s IIRC, and they rolled us I think. So I'm hoping they might go into the game a bit over-confident.

is that because West could share the prizemoney if successful between the players, club & support staff ?

Re: Foxtel Cup Semi Final: West v Claremont @ AAMI Stadium
To expand on enjoying the Foxtel Cup, our experience so far has been as follows:
2011, we had a routine win at AAMI over Ainslie, followed by a loss to a strong Williamstown side.
Last year we went to Perth and were emabarrassed by Claremont after we took a very, very weak side. We had to drown our sorrows by enjoying the Perth nightlife, though.
This year, we went to the MCG, which was a great experience for the players and staff, to play a strong Port Melbourne side. We weren't expected to get close to them and we were coming off a couple of losses, so morale wasn't overly high. They kicked the first three goals and it was going to plan. From there, we smashed them. The positive effect it had on our morale was significant.
To then come out and beat Claremont last night was another boost to morale, let alone a guaranteed $50,000 or a possible $100,000.
The TV coverage showing a very good SANFL side doing so well, represented by West Adelaide, is invaluable to us in terms of sponsorship and exposure.
In 3 weeks, we play a Grand Final against East Fremantle.
Have I always supported the Foxtel Cup? - Yes.
Has it been good for West Adelaide - It sure has.
Finally, Andrew Collins has his critics, generally those who don't know him. Those who do just appreciate totally what he has done for a club that was really struggling. His results speak louder than words.

And we're into another Grand Final - and this time a score of 3 goals could be quite respectable.

Slightly TBH bigclock, some of theses players will have played 3 extra games this season.I know premierships are the ultimate goal but the club needs the $100,000 or $50,000 prizemoney. It will really help the club going forward. I am sure some of these players are having lighter training sessions to help overcome any issues.

it shouldn't have any major effect (playing the extra games) really, well unless i'm wrong didn't Claremont win the Foxtel Cup & the WAFL flag last year ?

The time played must have changed, as three of the four quarters went for less than 20 minutes.

Yes. It used to be 18 minutes and 2 minutes plus any time on in that last 2 minutes.
