Back in Red and Black in 2018
A new era at the Bloods, with Gavin Colville taking over the reins from Mark Mickan.
One or two retirements, but this year will be driven by excitement and some very talented younger players, with a clear focus on the future.
It will be interesting to see if Jono Beech returns and it's obvious West need to reinforce their ruck and midfield stocks, as well as a key position player.
Those to watch: Obviously the most talented youngster in Australia, Izak Rankine, as well as Isaac Johnson, Patrick Fairlie, Murray Waite and others.
Draft watch: For a roughie, Chris Burgess, a Flinders Park 'come and try' player, now a key player and some AFL interest.
Prediction? That's for others, who might say 6th to 9th.
Me? Somewhere between 1st and 3rd

Think there's a bit to like about the Bloods. Their crop of exciting youngsters made great strides onfield last season. I know there's some decent outs, but if they can add a couple of proven recruits, keep an eye on them.

OUTS
CAIRE
CARGER
helBIG
SCOTT
SCHMIDT
SILVERLOCK
INS
BEECH
EASTMAN
HUPFIELD
KIRK
MILLER
PARELLA
Thats just a few ins and outs
If there are more , please post
Will Jason Porplyzia and Thiele play this season ?
Hard to gauge how WA will go this season
Showed some improvement last season , so might be on the way up ?
From what Ive seen of him as a player, Gavin Colville should become a good coach
From what I know, Westies have got their off field matters in order , which had to be expected with the recently appointed president and club stalwarts Thiele and First Blood around the club
Prediction
5th-9th

Thanks for the preview, scrappy
Re the 2 Jasons.
Porps is hoping to play in the next week or two.
Thiele is on standby and is training extremely well.
As for the club, despite the usual suspects negativity, we've turned our finances around remarkably. (as per our published accounts).
First trading profit for many years, no debt problems at all, backed up by the Wolfpack (credit to prior and current Board members) for any contingencies, excellent new coach, women's football much improved, oval improvements planned, community engagement being expanded, Team of the Centuries dinner in 2 weeks filling up fast.
There's still a lot to do, but the Board and staff have the passion to do it.
Happy to answer any questions here or by PM about the club.

Re: Back in Red and Black in 2018
Now 2-2
A good recovery after being mauled by 138 points by NA in round 2
NA 25-14
WA 2-14
WA won the next 2 matches narrowly against CD [9 points] SA [2 points]
Expected finish
6th-9th
WA V SA
Round 4
I cant recall this happening before in a SANFL match
WA played Izak Rankine + John Noble
SA played Matthew Rankine + Mark Noble
So there were 2 sets of brothers playing against each other on different teams

Re: Back in Red and Black in 2018
Aaron Fielke has retired
166 games played
152 goals scored or 155 depending where one looks ?
Last played in the WA surprise win against CD at Elizabeth Oval
In that match he was listed as having played the most senior games at the club
Shannon Green and Logan Hill were 2 others who had played 100+ games in that match
Aaaron kicked the most goals for WA in that win, his 2 goals made a BIG difference
CD 8-6
WA 6-15 +FIELKE 2-0 = 8-15
Aaron injured his shoulder in the CD match
Recently he re-injured a shoulder when playing in the reserves
The shoulder would need surgery
Aaron has decided to end a very good career
Some of the highlights of his career would probably be winning the 2015 Premiership and possibly meeting Thiele

Re: Back in Red and Black in 2018
Now 4-3 after 7 matches
Have recovered well and are finals aspirants
I can recall going to the WA V WT match in round 1
In that match I saw Chris Burgess take a terrific mark up forward and thought he might be a decent forward in the making
A few weeks later , a club faithful told me he was probably a better defender
In the recent win against Adelaide Crows, Chris played in the forward line and kicked 5 goals
He was very very impressive
In Beech, Middleton and Chris Burgess , West have 3 strong marking key key forwards they can use
Also great to see Jason Porplyzia playing again
Expected Minor round finish : 5TH-8TH
