Re: Norwood 2018 season
Spelly- stats are correct , but for a reason
Norwood didnt have dominating BIG man up forward for most of the year
Surman for a few games was a target until injured
With a small forward line , Norwood had to skirt the flanks and were indirect at times
Without Surman, and to a lesser extent Glenn, there were a lack of forwards during the season that took marks and had set shots very close to goal
Dawe was often the lone BIG man up forward , and there was too much for him to do at times as well as being the 2nd ruckman

Which got exposed on GF day. The thing was, scoring was so far ahead of anyone, it seemed to cover the deficiency, hence the favouritism.

Re: Norwood 2018 season
A few people queried the small NW forward line set up after the GF
Fact is it worked all year , and NW did score 15-15 in the GF
The defence ends up the prob on GF day conceding a whopping 19-10
Spelly had NW played EG in the GF who do u think would have won ?
I reckon NW would have scored less than 15-15, but prob would have won
Maybe
NW 13-11
EG 10-10

Accuracy. The most important stat and the most ignored at training.

Re: Norwood 2018 season
The most important stat in any game is the scoreboard & nothing else really matters, just the result
Note, I was surprised that Surman played reserves on grand final day
During the year I’d say North had the better of Norwood in 7 of the 8 quarters played, in normal circumstances I would have tipped North however I thought they’d be mentally shot but I was wrong

Re: Norwood 2018 season
Was unfortunate timing with Surman, his form since return from injury hadn't demanded selection, so the coach chose to trust the group that got them there - Can't knock a coach for that, but he'll also have to live with the question marks I guess. Would Surman have made a difference, noone will ever know but I highly doubt he would have made enough to reverse the result given North pretty much had Griggwood very well covered on the day.
I agree with Bayman that North had Norwood covered in the previous 7 of 8 quarters.
Norwood do take a fair %age of shots from either tighter angles or distance, but as we saw in the Grand Final North were able to kick them from those spots, while Norwood couldn't. Very good finishing side the Roosters.

Agree with Bayman and Scrunch
In the Minor round NA were better for much of those games than Norwood
NA creamed NW at Prospect
NA were 3 goals up at the parade well into the 3rd quarter
It rained at that point, the ball was on the deck a lot more for the rest of the match
NA could not controL the air, that suited NW
NA were a bit better on GF day and deserved to beat Griggwood

I take the cryptic clue that Collingwood are interested in Mitch Grigg?
Why wouldn’t you be
