After work I thought i'd go to the shield match, well unbelievably they (council or A.O? But wearing those blue shirts) were charging $15.00 for car parking, I quizzed whether this was for the cricket & was told yes, I said its free entry & you guys are charging $15.00 no thanks & left, just another reason not to go

Makes it tough to attract a crowd today
This SS game was up against :
Thoroughbred racing at Morphettville
Live telecast of Emirates Day on free to air TV
Test Cricket match Australia V South Africa on TV
Everyday Gourmet with Justine Schofield on TV
TA 98......SAYERS 6/32
SA 481....WEATHERALD 135...LEHMANN 129 NOT OUT
TA 4/57...SAYERS 3/9
Joe Mennie almost played for Australia
Peter Siddle was selected instead 1ST test against South Africa
So it looks like Joe is the 4th option at present
But Joe might now be 5th the way Chad Sayers is bowling this match

TA 98
SA 481
TA 289
TA were 9/196
93 for the last wicket
Jack Bird 39
George Bailey 142 not out
Thats a disappointing finish for SA ...
Sayers
6/32[16]
5/44[19.3]
Another outright win
Loving the formula, score quickly, give the bowlers plenty of time to take 20 wickets

He was concussed in an Australian Rules Football match
Will Will Pucovski and David Warner open the batting for Australia in 2018 test match cricket ?

Redbacks' blow it again & lose by 7 runs
W.A. 201
S.A. 247
W.A. 245
SET 200 to win
S.A. ALL OUT 192
just another case of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory

Both sides struggled with the bat
From what I saw during this game, there was plenty of swing and bounce for the bowlers
SA do play attacking cricket and set up wins in doing so the last 2 seasons
But to be dismissed for 192 in just under 40 overs , in the chase , was disappointing
They may have been a bit more patient in hindsight , but the batters seem to have an attacking game plan that is mainly working in 4 day games, but it didnt today

Re: SHEFFIELD SHIELD 2016-2017
Disappointing to lose a very winnable game. We need some more consistent batsmen who can regularly play longer innings.Missing Head obviously but our middle order collapses too many times.
I'd rather have an unexciting win then an attacking loss.

Just totally unacceptable.
They have no understanding of how to bat in a r day game.

Re: SHEFFIELD SHIELD 2016-2017
That was a pathetic last couple of days. Our batsmen our just not performing and we seem to have the same names failing on a regular basis. Not good enough.
Considering how well our bowlers are doing it is very disappointing we lose so quickly

QL 218
SA 156
QL 216
SA 4/158
So far the innings of both individual teams have taken a 2 run differential
SA need a target of 279 to win
Current Shield ladder[VI + WA have completed 8, the others pending on 7]
VI 44.67
WA 35.96
NS 32.12
SA 32.10
QL 31.31
TA 14.15
Not much chance of NS beating TA for 6 points[NS 253 TA 490 NS 1/141]
The winner of the SA V QL game will most likely lift to 2nd position
Thats how important this run chase will be

Redbacks on verge of victory, Tasmania needing 300 runs to win & the Redbacks needing 10 wickets & the Redbacks have the Tigers reeling at 5/32........if you can watch a replay of the fifth wicket all i can say to the batsman Beau Webster is you've got a bat so why not use it

Tasmania all out 106 before lunch...Rainbird top scored with 33 & showed the batsman how they should be batting.................i think the Redbacks are now in the final against the Vics in Alice Springs, however not totally sure whether other matches come into calculations or not

Just found out, if NSW win they'll displace S.A & make the final, as I type they need 403 to win & are 3/240

NSW bowled out for 396 (fair effort in fourth innings), WA win by 6 runs & it is a Victoria v South Australia final in Alice Springs

Final Sheffield Shield ladder 2016-2017
VI 60-31
SA 47-24
WA 45-48
NS 44-60
QL 41-53
TA 19-64
Pre last round SA needed
VI to beat or draw with QL
WA to beat NS or draw
SA to beat TA outright
And it happened
NS needed 403 v WA
They got within 7 runs making 396 with close to 2 overs left
Back to back VI V SA SS finals
The 4 day formula, of attacking batting, and having enough time to bowl sides out has worked for 2 seasons in a row under coach Jamie Siddons
Prob need to be more accountable and patient with their batting in a 5 day format
Does anything think its right to play a SS final over a max of 5 days ?
I ask the question as every other game all season is played over a max of 4 days

At a neutral venue 4 days should be fine. But before this series the top finishing team hosted the final and if it was a 4 day final all they needed to do was to prepare a flat wicket and bat for a draw.
