Sturt won because.....
Mattner has brought a very high pressure- afl pressure game- to Sturt from his time in Sydneyand the playing group have well and truly bought into it.. Sturt are very hard to score against and strangle the crap out of you ,and rarely allow you to spread from the stoppages and get quality entries to your forwards.Their tackling is brutal bordering on manic at times.
The big 4 as I call them...Riley.Osborn,McMahon and Martin...all on big pay checks played very well...along with Kirkwood of course.
WWT lost because.....
basically they couldnt kick enough goals. Their forwards apart from Wundke were well held.Boyd played his usual stat gathering game, accumulating at will, got plenty of it..in most cases handballs recieved, but did not hurt the opposition very often.
Time for a massive cleanout ; can get it done during the minor round but have too many non contributors when it counts .
One bad game and massive clean-out required. If that's the case SA had 2 bad games so bigger clean-out required again.
Correct!!
pretty sure some of our non contributors who played in our 2 finals appearances who will never play for South again. however ""the Combine " have some very highly paid players who didnt give a yelp in this years GF or last years.

I think there'll be a natural attrition at the Eagles, like most clubs. Luke Jarrad has retired, after a stellar career and it's likely one or two will follow suit, IMO.

Seriously?
Even the day after they win a premiership you still have to get stuck into a club?
Are you really insinuating that 90% of the Sturt fans there were bandwaggoners who only turn up to Grand Finals ?
(22K as you estimated) as opposed to home games at Unley (average about 2200).
That really isn't fair ..... not today.
The Sturt fans on this forum deserve better than that from you.
To all the Double Blues fans here, I hope you enjoy the Chimney tomorrow.

Hey have a crack at me all you like, we lost .... but you really should apologise to the Sturt supporters, don't detract from their big win.

good crowd for the final game of the 2016 season , first half both teams trying to get on top in a hard contest, sturt broke the game open in the third and went on to win the gf,great effort from sturt after finishing 8th in 2015 to first in 2016 , great effort considering the club was on their knees a couple of years ago very nearly closing

" All I had to do was come up with a game plan we felt that was the best game plan to win a premiership
We thought it would take a bit longer , its happened so quickly ..."
By
Marty Mattner
Interviewed just after Sturt won its 14th SANFL premiership
The latest more defence structured version game plan worked for Sturt
As did a similar version for Norwood in its recent 3 peat premiership successes
In between West Adelaide won a flag with with a more offensive game plan
So what does every coach aspire in the SANFL in the short term ?
Should some teams re model game plans ?
From what I saw in 2016
The 3 teams that attempted to play that solid defensive style finished:
1ST Sturt
2ND Woodvile West Torrens
8TH Norwood

So who is waddayamean and who does he follow?
waddayamean might be an alias and
1. his club may be PA and he has nothing to do in September again
2. It could be an alias for Rucci trying to drum up a story as he is no good as a reporter
3. It could fireman Cornes starting a fire but not having the ability to put it out
4. It could be John Olsen trying to destroy the SANFL on social media
5. needs to work out 22.000 + 5000 does not add up to 30000

Given the depth at the eagles (reserves in last 4 grand finals) I can't see them sliding in the near future, the only negative in this regard is that (& we got some of it) they lost a very fruitful recruitment zone

If you are referring to Wundke,Ainger & Boyd then it is partly incorrect because Boyd already has a premiership with Centrals.
