Feel sorry for the young lad who has been rucking all year (and played every game) in the 18s who has been dropped to allow Brodie Grundy to play.

Don't believe Grundy has played 18s at all this season either.

Grundy has certainly played U18's this year, was the winner of the round 6 nomination for the Macca's Cup MVP, for example.

Has spent time in the league team, the reserves and 18s.

Oh and of course in Austria or Switzerland or wherever the afl reckoned was good for their development.

At least he can snow ski now!

the whole u/18"s concept is just for the AFL.....these two examples happened at Glenelg in recent years.

L.Macgregor played reserves all year & got promoted for a league final, the league team lost & he wasn't allowed to return to the reserves

L. Neale played in last years losing League Elimination Final & was allowed to play the rest of the finals in the u/18's

apart from AFL being the answer i don't see anything different in both cases

Yep , some clubs sold our junior system out . That needs to be remembered ,blame them.

But I suppose you play your best side to win. Sad yes but that may drive the young bloke on as well.
