AFL Finals 2016
Thought I'd start a thread where we can discuss the finals series, and compare our mutual excitement as seeing what Geelong, Hawthorn and Sydney will deliver. Such a new and fresh prospect, wonderful to see.

For Adelaide's sake I hope not. Providing we can get past NM in week one, I'd much rather play GWS in week 2 than Sydney.
The breaking story about Lachie Whitfield this morning is less than ideal for GWS' preparations.

How about them Doggies last night hey?
Gave the West Coast Eagles a good old fashioned touch up in the end. Did not see that one coming at all.

Bullies absolutely smashed the Eagles, their pressure on the ball carrier and the ways they got numbers back to a contest was outstanding. If they play like that each week they will go deep into September.

They were a bit wayward in the first 10 mins or so, but after that their ball movement and their spread from the contest was also exceptional.
Just goes to show that the game plan for all teams is very similar these days, it really just comes down to who rolls up switched on a lot of the time. I mean what the Bulldogs did to WC was almost a carbon copy of what West Coast did to Adelaide less than a fortnight ago. The similarities were almost uncanny.
For all the talk of game plans, and all the analysis that goes into modern footy, it really all comes back to winning the contest and showing intent.
Last night the Bulldogs were hungrier. They played and worked harder. It's that simple.

Prelim Finals
GWS V WB [Spotless]
GE V SS [MCG]
GE V SS
SS have a 6 day break v GE with a 14 day break
Its the way its worked out for SS losing the first final against GWS, but from an equality point of view, SS should have had a 7 day break at least
SS lots of injury concerns
GE look good things at the G , the only factor would be a SS never say die attitude effort and performance
GWS V WB
Cinderella final
Could go either way
Perhaps the Spotless superstars can win
Had this been at Ethiad the WB would have been very hard to beat
If it was the MCG , WB favored to win
SS 1469
GE 1594
WB 1609
GW 1663
WC 1678
AC 1795
HW 1800
NM 1859
Thats the total amount of points conceded in the Minor Round by the 8 Finals teams
The top 4 performed defences , are the last 4 teams left in the AFL finals

Can no one win the Sydney v Geelong game?
Sick of having every GF have one of Sydney/Hawthorn/Geelong in it!
Please someone different win the flag this year!

Re: AFL Finals 2016
Looks like the Bulldogs are going to take over Spotless, with Bulldogs members snapping up 9,000 tickets compared to 6,000 for the Giants.
Given the forecast the ground won't sell out until mid-week, it's a good call by the AFL to play the game at Spotless. ANZ Stadium would not have gotten too many more people in, and 30,000 in an 80,000 seat stadium would just look bad.

GWS?
This year I would be happy for GWS to win. The next 10 years?? No. They can have one, but that's it. Haha.
I'm on the dogs from here.
If the Cats make the GF I won't be watching it. The prospect of Dangerfield winning a flag in his first year there invokes feelings in me comparable to Port winning a flag for mine. Could not think of anything worse than watching that! Nope, I'll be going fishing or something that day if they make it.

Incredible, irresistible finals run this one. 7th to a GF berth with wins WC in Perth (who were in incredible form coming into finals), triple premiers Hawthorn, and the AFL's Frankenstein in GWS.
Gee's I hope they can do the job over the COLA/NSW Academy fuelled Swans this week.
A win for the Bulldogs would be a win for football and the common supporter IMO.
