Depends how they go. If they are going to get smacked every game there's not much point having them play.

I see a handful of games will be played in W.A this year, wondering if we will see a season were no games are played in New South Wales

last year they got beaten comfortably in most matches but did pull off a win, i think it was against Tassie but i'll stand corrected, all they're trying to do is show the young players how to prepare & what to expect & obviously give them that experience

Matador Cup
WA 9/242
SA 242 all out
SA were
6/231 [45.4]
7/239 [47.2]
8/240 [47.4]
9/242 [48.3]
All out 242 [48.4]
Ends up in a tye
If the rules were made that a team has to be awarded the win, who should it be ?
WA who lost 1 less wicket
SA who faced 8 less balls

Re: MATADOR CUP 2016
If its a tie its a tie, nothing else should be considered, nothing, not who scored more boundaries, more sixers, less wickets & so on,.....as for the match well the Redbacks didn't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as seems customary but did snatch a tie from almost certain victory.....
Well done to the former Glenelg player Alex Carey on his 75 runs & being man of the match
I'll give another scenario on the draw, let's say Norwood are playing West in the last minor round match with the winner getting the double chance & the loser to the elimination final & the scores are
West 10.10.70
Norwood 9.16.70
Do think West should get the nod to go to the qualifying final or as it should be revert to percentage??

The Redbacks have a lot of promising talent.
They just need to get smarter. They play some dumb cricket too often.

Perhaps all tied Matador Cup games should have a super over to decide the winner
This happens in BBL cricket

where do you put a stop to it ? while highly unlikely it does happen, so for the tied shield or test matches are we going to have a ''super over'' for them too ?
T20 cricket has it because it is just pure entertainment & is mainly there for just that along with the younger generation or people new to the game needing a result & it makes for good television

QL 5/158 [35.5]
TA 3/114 [19.3]
TA needed 178 off 27 overs
Were 3/114 when rain stopped play
TA were 1 run short
Duckworth/Lewis/Stern is OK to adjudicate a result , based on formulations
But it guesses which team runs, rather the best team on the day [or night] winning
If there was an uninterupted TA innings
TA needed 64 runs off 45 balls with 7 wickets left
DLS have given the match to QL
At 3/114 and no more stoppages
If I was a betting man I would have thought the probability of a TA win would have been about an 80% probability
That is 8 out of 10 times TA would win if they had a non stop chase

Re: MATADOR CUP 2016
There are 6 clarifications in cricket
TESTS
ODIS
T20S
FIRST CLASS
LIST A
20/20
LIST A is where the Matador Cup games are listed
Therefore the games against CX1 are counted in the batting and bowling averages , and as matches

POINTS TABLE
21 QL
17 NS
16 VI
15 WA
13 TA
12 SA
00 CXI
Prelim Final
2nd v 3rd
NS V VI
The winner will play QL in the Grand Final
SA needed to beat TA in the last match plus get 1 bonus point to play in the finals
TA 7/295 [50]
That meant SA needed to win in 40 overs or less to play finals
SA 267 [38.4]
BUTT
It ends up SA only had to win the last game v TA to make the final
The ladder ended up
VI
3 WINS
3 LOSSES
16 POINTS
SA
2 WINS
3 LOSSES
1 TIE
12 POINTS
Had SA won the last match they would have finished on
3 WINS 2 LOSSES 1 TIE
3 Wins and a tie would have meant SA finished on 16 points and above VI
Matador Cup rules are if 2 sides finish on equal points the side with a tie finishes above the other
So all SA needed to do was win the match
Bonus points were irrelevant

Re: MATADOR CUP 2016
Amazing bowling performance by Lyon, 4 - 10 is tidy bowling. Neser then looked like it could be a close game reducing NSW to 3-19 in response but that was as far as it went.
Not a bad game to watch.

Another final that was won by the toss, it cost the Redbacks' any chance to win seasons ago & yesterday it cost Queensland any chance of winning, if they are going to have day games, then start later on in the morning
