Re: Adelaide's New Coach - Who?
Andrew Jarman has apparently stated on Triple M this arvo that he's got strong mail that Alistair Clarkson is to be Adelaide's new coach, which will be announced next Tuesday.
Two things:
a) After getting my hopes up for years of big names being linked to Adelaide, I'll believe it when I bloody see it, and;
b) IF true I hope Jarman hasn't jeopardised the deal by leaking it in GF week.

Was $41 about 5 days ago, was $14 yesterday, was $9 this morning and is now the $1.45 favorite!
Massive plunges will pay off if he is announced as the coach.
( And some ok ones too )

Caroline Wilson says her Hawthorn source is right near the top and there's zero chance of Clarkson signing with the Crows

Her source is spot on. Their next coach has not been mentioned extensively, only in broad passing.

Yeah doesn't mean to say it's right, just reporting whats been said. Would take her word over Jarman's though. Albeit "just"

No idea, but if I had to guess I'd think Sumich based on that premise

fwiw, i spoke to someone today that is involved at Adelaide in an ''off field'' role, i mentioned Bassets' name & the reply was ''who told you'' ?

I'd say Basset would have been spoken too already, Ratten will once the Hawks are done with 2014 and I would be very surprised if they gave the job to Basset. Very.
IMO, that would be a very risky move.

While I agree that the chances of him coming are very very slim - let's be honest, if he intended to defect would he tell anyone at all about it, particularly as he heads into a GF?
No. In it's in Hawthorns best interests that he tell nothing to anyone, there is no way he would want to jeopardise their chances tomorrow.
Ross Lyon swore black and blue he wasn't leaving the Saints.
Again, not saying we're a chance, but I still think he's in play personally.
I have no doubt they have a coaching panel pretty much sorted, but make no mistake, there would be a substantial offer on the table for Clarkson to consider come Sunday.
We will know by this time next week though, the AFC need things in place ASAP so that things can be prepped for the draft and trade period.
My guess is this:
Senior Assistant - Mark Williams
Senior Coach - Peter Sumich
New Assistants - Ryan O'Keefe, Nathan Bassett

He is only a chance to be an assistant IMO, he wouldn't be in the running for the big chair.

I agree.
Adelaide made much fuss ( Sanderson certainly did and rightly so ) about the untimely and tragic loss of Dean Bailey. Without a senior assistant with real experience next to him it seems Sanderson suffered ( I wonder how much this was taken into account in his sacking process? ) and so did the whole coaching group.
Not just a Port v Crows thing Ginge, how the hell can Mark Bickley be a forward line coach? He, Camporeale and Clarke should be updating their resumes.

Totally agree.
Very real chance all 4 assistants could go.

So ETTG - Seeing as you seem to have the good oil on this one - any of the above names close to the mark?

At least one name correct and in correct position.

One name that hasn't been mentioned much but who I rate highly and would be a good fit for what we need is Mark Harvey.
Surely an announcement will be made in the next 48 hours or so.

I reckon he's copped a bit of a bad wrap the poor bloke. Clearly uncomfortable in press conferences, I think he'd be quite different in real life.
That said - I still hope we don't get him....

Signals suggest that Brendon Bolton is going to be a likely contender for the Senior Role at Adelaide. Five wins in his five matches as Senior Coach at Hawthorn during the absence of Clarkson probably wont hurt him in the interview process..
Interesting that he has not played AFL himself, but played for different sides in Tasmania. Yet has made it pretty well in his Assistant coaching role at the Hawks.

With all due respect to Mr.Bolton, I would have backed myself to coach the Hawks to wins over GWS, West Coast, Carlton, Collingwood and the Suns. ( All in Melbourne )

Agreed. Let's be honest with the experience they've got in the side now it pretty much coaches itself. You get the impression the coaches just 'set and forget' and come game day just kick back and enjoy the show!

I take a small compliment and a slightly larger slice of sarcasm and leave this thread.
