Well, to say he will leave quite a legacy is an understatement.

His business acumen has ensured that the game has never been in a healther state financially, with everyone involved in the game earning more than ever before, and the game itself generating huge income.

The flip side of this is that this money seems to have brought many darker elements to the game, including cheating, corruption, and players soliciting their services to the highest bidder to name a few.

So while the game has undeniably benefited from his tenure, it has also suffered, becoming less accessible to the fans due to pricing and profit oriented practices.

The priority for his successor has to be to return the game to its fans, whether that happens or not we'll wait and see.

I think it is more apt to say that the AFL as a commercial entity has grown and prospered.
But has the game (ie football and not just AFL football) benefited? I am not so sure on that front.

If he is rated over the eleven years he has been at the helm he would be judged very highly.

He made some significant changes at the top when he first took office as the CEO of the AFL and took the competition to another level.

Maybe just maybe he faltered a little with various issues in the last 18 months of his tenure, but overall did his job very very well.

My thoughts too but the last time a South Australian took over the AFL was Wayne Jackson in 1997. Gillon was born here  Wink

Why the rush to usher him in so soon?
I thought King Andy was abdicating at end of season.

I wonder if he wants to be out before ASADA release their ultimate findings - whenever that will be.
