It almost seems that the less noise made, the more the powers that be, deem acceptance by the masses.
And that goes beyond footy.
Let the spin doctors go to work and an apple becomes an orange and vice versa.

You wont be a pain in the **** Wolves if you can get some of your fellow Board Members to be on your side, it could the voting Director who could be a pain in the **** to the other SANFL voting Directors.
Our voting Director assured all at our meeting that Port Magpies ( PAFC as we all have known it) will not exist in 2015, gone, finished, history, alas, as bayman has eluded some things could change before 2015

I will be working on removing the Academy team with my board if elected. Where will this side get its players (None of them can be father-son as the old club no longer exists).

Where do the 18-22 yr olds come from (which zone)? Are they paid?

According to the SANFL Media Statement 10/09/2013 "This academy team to be populated through the Port Adelaide’s Magpies listed players (ie the 15 contracted "top up" players) existing PAMFC players, country, indigenous, international, father/son academies. (Players to be aged between 18-22).
Such players receive a maximum of $100 per match at reserves level"

Re: Adelaide FC Reserves
I understand existing players but over time these will decrease
There are no Father-son players yet for the Power - None of them are old enough and I'd argue that this is a new club and the old port magpies club is defunct and no father-son can come from this when their boys will be zoned to the other eight clubs in the future BUT time will tell

Yes, existing players will decrease with the loss of Port's zones and juniors structure. But the country, indigenous, international, father/son academies will provide options.
Re father/son: the current Port Adelaide FC is the same Port Adelaide of 1870 - "One Club". Brett Ebert, son of Russell Ebert, was drafted by Port Adelaide under the father/son rule in 2002.
There were a few sons in the 2013 Port Adelaide Reserves, U18s and U16s: Williams, Northeast, Foster, Mahney, Ginever, Smith, Settre.

You are not the "One Club" anymore. You voted to join the AFL and are now and AFL club called the Port Power with a reserves team called Port Adelaide playing in the SANFL. The SANFL Port Adelaide Magpies are no more.
The only father-son they should get is any that flows through to the AFL club.

I ask this of you : Please define what a "club" is and, if you can, convince me that a club is defined by a letterhead on a piece of paper, a song, a guernsey even, in fact anything that is a physical object that can be, by your summation, moved, killed off, cease to exist or disbanded by changes to any of the above.
Or, if like me, you believe a "club" is about the people who patronise and support it, the volunteers, the thankless glue who hold a club together or the generations of families who have supported it and the players who have had the honour of wearing the guernsey and the way they look upon the "club". For me any many,a team wearing black and white stripes playing football at Alberton as Port Adelaide, the Magpies will always be. Sure, I'll acknowledge there has been major change, restructuring, but there is and I hope will always be a team in black and white playing at Alberton for me to holler at "Caaarn you Magpies!"
The Port Adelaide Football Club ( It IS NOT PORT POWER ) in the AFL has a nickname, catch cry if you will, of the "Power".
As in the Hawthorn Football Club is not the Hawthorn Hawks, or the Essendon Football Club the Essendon Bombers, the Port Adelaide Football Club is not "Port Power".

Re: Adelaide FC Reserves
Funnily enough I would actually regard the Port Adelaide Football Club as One Club moreso now with the most recent changes than ever before.
I would say that the move to the AFL resulted in an identity crisis for fans and players alike for many years, something that now looks to have been resolved.

The SANFL side is a brand new club and will have its history recorded as such by the SA Football Historical Society that links its stats with the AFL.
My father for example played for the defunct port magpies in the 1970's as did David Boyd, Russell Ebert.

Yes there is A PORT ADELAIDE, but it is a new club in the SANFL.
Port Adelaide (Ex SANFL which was and continued into the SANFL 1870-Once CLubn had one continuous business number)
THE AFL POrt had to establish a new one - This is still the same 1997-2014...
Hence the Old club is defunct and the new SANFL club should get its F/Son players from the AFL playing stock

Re: Adelaide FC Reserves
Splitting hairs IMO Wolves.
Port Adelaide is Port Adelaide. They dominated the SANFL and quite rightly graduated to the national competition in 1997. Their SANFL presence since then has been confusing and poorly managed IMO, and now they are finally one club again with a single identity as they should've been all along.
Father Son is a difficult one - but I'm happy for them to keep theirs - because by rights that means Adelaide gets the father/sons from every other SANFL club

Yes, one club with a single identity - the AFL club Port Adelaide, aka "The Power", not allowed to call itself the Magpies. Its senior team plays in the AFL, its Reserves team plays in the SANFL. So, like Wolves, I can't see how the father/son rule would apply to players outside their AFL contingent.

Re: Adelaide FC Reserves
The SANFL got both AFL licences and then sub-let them to a created Football Club - Adelaide and then sub-let the 2nd licence to a newly created PAFC which renamed its original identity Port Adelaide Magpies F.C.
The SANFL now is selling its licences (POrt never owned this) to the Current Port FC and the current AFC. They are new entities holding onto a heritage passed down from its parent club who has now passed away
