If West continue to play that attacking game of footy they are a real chance to do well in the finals!

Heard someone say that 5RPH announced that the free kick count was 30-17 at 3/4T. Are they counting on the fulls as well. Maybe Big Phil might be able to clarify.
Great win today and fantastic to see the foot kept well and truly on the throttle all day. Brad Fisher was clearly BOG. His workrate was outstanding and showed why he played 99 AFL games. Chris Schmidt and Scott Bricknell were outstanding. There wasn't any passengers except for maybe Daniel Webb unfortunately. He is really struggling and may find himself running around in the 2s with the way Pete Nelson is continuing to shine at the moment.
Still have Fort Caruso (was the runner for the reserves), Nat Caruso (who is playing reserves) and Shannon Green to somehow find a spot back into the team. On todays performance they may need to have a lengthy stint in the reserves.
Bye this week then Glenelg. Win that one and we just about have a double chance sewn up.
Great day. Just hope the crows can continue it.
Starts as first Ruck and gets 18 hitouts against the leading ruck in the league. 15 ? disposals and we win the clearences 43 to 34. 4 tackles. What do you want him to do?

I thoguht the Bloods were excellent yesterday. We moved the ball qucikly and were prepared to take risks.
I liked the way we used the ball both by hand and foot the best in a few yrs.
Brad Fisher played his best game for the club and Schmidt and Cruch were very good in the midfield
I did thing Daniel Webb was good yesterday but to me he is a better key forward with the occassional run in the ruck.
This kid can play and he is in my side every week. He will get better and better in the next few yrs

Yes, Daniel has a huge upside and is very versatile.
I thought our rucks did a great job yesterday.

Yes he does alright in the ruck, but we have someone who can do that better in Nelson. Very surprised if he had 15 disposals. Didn't attack the footy on a few occasions and is doing nothing up forward. Hate to bag blokes but he just isn't doing enough to hold onto his spot imo especially when there is pressure from below.
Edit: Had a look at his stats and he had 4 tackles which is pretty good for a bloke of his size so obviously the workrate is there. The column next to that though is the worrying one - marks (just 2 of them).

Marks can be a rubbish stat. Kicking the ball 20m sideways to someone v taking a contested mark is a lot different. It seems like when we win the ball out of the centre quickly we give our forwards a chance one on one which is what we have been asking for for ever. Our clearances yesterday were very good. 43 to 34.

West are actually the No 1 clearance team in the league, I think.

Andy Collin's report on the game from Westies' web site:

Coaches Report v Sturt
I was asked after the game why did you play a more offensive game today. I asked them to explain their comment and observations further while I listened with a smile.
The scoreboard looked terrific after the game. A winning margin around 10 goals and scoring close to 20 goals. I can honestly tell you the players just executed their game at a higher level than they have all year. Kicking and handball efficiency was at a season high, our contested game was technically better and the accuracy at goals was a real positive.
A win like this is superb for the group and another positive lesson on the path to becoming a better team. Sturt Football Club had been hit by injuries and was coming of a short 6 day recovery and we love playing at City Mazda Stadium. As a Coach you would love the stars to align each week but the reality is that each game is a new challenge. There are so many variables in Australian Rules football that if you do not prepare well you normally lose.
Already my mind (and I hope the players as well) is about preparing for Glenelg.
I still would like to thank the players and staff for a great team effort yesterday.
I would also like to thank those that made the effort to come to the game. A large and positive supporter group does make a difference.

I think his comments about the reason for the higher scoring game back up what I've been saying for some time.
It's not possible to decide to play 'defensive' football one week and 'attacking' football the next and expect it to happen automatically. The answer is in how effective and efficiently you play, IMO.
