Round 14: South v Glenelg - Sunday 1 July @ Hickinbotham Oval
V
Sunday 1 July
Hickinbotham Oval
Reserves: 11:15am
League: 2:10pm
Broadcast: Life FM
South are coming off the 'bye' (aka a fighting loss to Port Melbourne in the Foxtel Cup) and are coming off a strong win over Sturt before that, while Glenelg recorded another loss to Centrals. Will South notch up a win in front of their home crowd, or will Glenelg bounce back from last weeks loss?

I tip a high-scoring game and I like South's midfield a little better than Glenelgs.
South narrowly.

firstly perhaps someone can change the heading as it is at Noarlunga
we haven't beaten South since 2010 (there was a draw), if we can curtail Rolfe & Liddle this would go a long way to winning, i wonder how much the 'travel factor' will come into it late in the game, i'm hopeful of a win but it should go down to the wire, bays by 4 points in another 4 point match

Oops, the amount of games Glenelg have had at home in recent weeks, I guess we could put it down to force of habit

South by 2-3 goals. I tend to agree with bayman and wonder if there is a 'travel factor' here at play for the Panthers.

The last time that South played after a Foxtel Cup match it was v west at richmond in which they were comprehensively defeated.
Hopefully its the same result on sunday

Think the Bays might have us here!!
The last foxtel cup game we came back to play West and it was a disaster!!
We looked tired, slow and uninterested in the game. It was the worst performance I have seen south produce this year
Definitely need a rocket up them from the word GO!!! Or will be another disaster !!!
Hope we can destroy the mob down the hill and keep a good record of late in tact

Whereas West have played 3 Foxtel Cup games and won the next week every time, so all is not lost, Southee.

Very important game for both sides.
We've had the wood over the Bays in recent times, however this game is at Hickinbotham Oval, any chance we could shift it to Glenelg??
I do expect South to win and win well, having rested a few guns last weekend, and some players showing good Foxtel cup form.
Panthers by 45 pts.

I've seen Glenelg up close twice this season and based on what I've seen I find it difficult to imagine them beating South.

Too be honest I have never met anyone who hates us.... More so I get the comments " you poor bugger" and " at least you stick with them".
I have met many SANFL supporters who hate the Bays though

As a child in the early 1960s my first memories of South were thinking that their correct title was "Poor Old South". It seemed at the time that's what everyone including the media referred to them as. Not much has changed in over 50 years other than a lot of other clubs including my own could now have the Poor Old tag added to their name.

i don't think anyone should think of any team as being ''poor old .................'' because sooner or later it'll change & i'll give you a glaring example..........20 years ago it was 'poor old Central' because they couldn't win a final roll the clock forward 20 years & now they rarely lose a game & rarely lose a final.................i'll 'strangle' the first person who comes up with the 'poor old Port' tag

Other than 1964, and a short time under Bunton and another couple of year under Reid, South have been a basket case since 1945. That is 67 years. No other club or their supporters have endured anything like a drought like that. Every year the pundits expect South to make a charge, they haven't yet. Even last year they lost more games than they won. Even before they won a flag, Centra were often competitive, I never have heard any other team referred to with the pity reserved for South.
