Round 13: South v North - Sunday 12 July @ Hickinbotham Oval
Both sides had the week off last week due to the passing of Phil Walsh. South have been in indifferent form recently, while the less said about North's form the better. Who will find a way to win this week?

Don't be surprised if North get up in this one...
I think South will just win in a close, dour affair in slippery conditions...

I wouldn't be surprised, gobsmacked perhaps, astounded even
If South want to play finals they need to win this and not by just a couple of goals.

Pretty happy with the win in very oppressive conditions. Good little percentage booster we needed and given our run home, it was absolutely crucial we won this one.
Thought North was okay for large patches of the first half, but totally dropped off in the second half.
Cross was once again our best - 29 touches, three goals and four contested marks (little fella sure knows how to put his body on the line and take a solid grab).
Didn't think Veide had anyone go near him in the first three quarters with 25 touches up until the last change before falling off the pace.
Was comfortably Irra's finest game for us in his 5th season and 20th league game with 27 disposals and three goals, including 15 disposals and two goals in the last (which is pretty incredible given his highest disposal and goal tally in a full game was 17 and two before today).
Same with Tharaldson in defence - only his 4th league game (2nd for us) but this was his best with 15 touches and a couple of strong contested marks.
A whole host of our midfield got a stack of the ball (Liddle, Schwarz, Seccull, Macleod, Gotch, etc) and largely used it well.
Eddy was once again well held after only kicking one goal on Cameron Craig.
Motlop racked up a competition-best 39 disposals today but didn't feel he had a huge impact. Of those 39, 23 came from handball receives and he only had 7 contested possessions.
Thought Schulz was North's best - had 27 touches, 12 cont poss and 4 spoils.

Another random stat because I like stats.
Tarak Redigolo joined the 200 club at South. That being 200 career free kicks.
Redigolo - 200 FF, 94 FA in 95 games
To go with...
Liddle - 228 FF, 93 FA in 115 games
Cross - 205 FF, 110 FA in 95 games
Chuck in this one too...
Rose - 88 FF, 31 FA in 83 games.
And you have 721 FF, 328 FA between four highly-disciplined players.

29 disposals was also a career best for Veide too, eclipsing the 26 he had against the Eagles a couple of weeks back. Prior to that he had never had more than 20 in a match. Definitely enjoying his best season with us, averaging career-highs in disposals (15) and tackles (4), as well as 3 clearances a game
