Re: South Australia v Western Australia, Saturday 26 May
Any idea why Wundke was overlooked?
Would play Georgiou ahead of Rudolph. Georgiou is very underrated imo and Rudolph hasn't impressed me in what I've seen of him since he came back from overseas or wherever he went.

Very surprised, especially with Allen and Wundke. I would have thought the game being on Glenelg Oval would have almost necessitated the selection of Allen.
No doubt the fact that Ty had only played his first game back from injury in 3 or 4 weeks last Friday night was one of the reasons the Bays skipper missed the final cut, just not enough footy in the selectors eyes. I was slightly surprised about Wundke but I guess with a smaller forward line and a small deck at Glenelg, selectors feel they have right mix. Luke Jericho probably to play out of the goal square as the lead up forward.

If the Western Australian lineup goes in reasonably close to my thoughts at the top of the thread, some of their height will worry South Australia.

If that eventuates, the SA selectors may opt to have Alex Georgiou in the final 22 just to give some extra height, maybe at the expense of Tim Webber or Jarrod Schiller from the bench?
Brett Zorzi is flexible enough to play on a tall, small or of course through the midfield so for mine, he is a certainty to be in the final 22.

Norwood player Brett Zorzi has withdrawn from the State team while Ben Nason (Central) and Alex Georgiou (Norwood) will be the 2 emergencies.

Withdrew yesterday, strained it at training. Happens all the time in club football.

I'm not sure of the strength of the WA side either but it doesn't look like a strong SA side to me. And I just can't accept that Grieger is the state full back.

For what its worth, this is a pretty strong side WA are bringing over. Don't like being pessimistic, but would expect WA to win by 2-3 goals. A versatile attack with a number of options who can snag two to three goals quickly; tall, running defence; a highly in-form ruckman in Paul Johnson and a midfield that can also drift forward and create damage.

Who would you have in his place? Greiger is one of the most underrated defenders going around. Doesn't get much of the footy but more often than not, neither does his opponent.

I wont pretend to have knowledge of the WA side but I am not sure that's a strong SA side.
Jericho has an ability to kcik quick goals and although he can be very hot and cold, he has been very good with Norwood the last month or so...
I think he is capable of being a match winner, on his day...

Tend to agree with most points CK - although WA only have 5 players under 181cm tall so if the ball is wet and conditions greasy, the smaller running players SA have may be a slight advantage...
I think the home state will just get up in a close one, by under 2 goals.

I don't have a problem with any of the guys selected, but I am surprised Michael Wundke was overlooked.

Roiwe said on AA tonight that it came down to Wundke and Adam Grocke for that spot as the ksy forward. He explained they went with Grocke over Michael Wundke as the selectors felt Grocke was also versatile enough to take the rucking duties in the forward line. Rowey did say Wundke was stiff.

with wet windy conditions (it hasn't stopped raining at Glenelg tonight) i'd be backing SA 1-39, however if your thinking like CK backing WA with a start i think would be the way to go
