Pretty surprising that Partington missed out on being drafted.

I imagine he will be taken as a rookie by someone. I would be equally astounded and pleased if he was able to play at the Bay next year.

Absolutely stoked to have Daniel Menzel back home at the Dogs.

Given his physical history I’d suggest most supporters of all clubs wish Daniel all the best. Could well be the league’s leading goalkicker if his body holds up, nice signing by the Dogs.

Re: Ins and Outs - 2020
These sorts of signings are pretty important to the sanfl comp.
Blokes like this can impart so much to younger players even if they are around for a short time.
With most players growing up in the sanfl ranks now pulling the pin before they hit 30, you don't get 200 games of experience all that often now. So such knowledge and mentoring needs to come from somewhere else.
It is a pity more experienced ex-AFL players don't come back and for a bit longer. You only seem to see them for a year or two.
This is not a criticism, more an observation. But I think they like to give their bit back to their starting club and then when the aches and pains start to be more noticeable, the rest of their lives and careers beckon...very understandable of course.

Re: Ins and Outs - 2020
Adam Kelly is an Out as GM of the SANFL, and an In as Head of Football at the Crows.
https://sanfl.com.au/league/news/sanfl-statement-adam-kelly-afc-appointment/
I think this is a problematic area for the SANFL. I make no comment on Adam Kelly's performance, I can't judge it, but if SANFL administrators see their appointments as stepping stones to a career in the AFL, then we can't expect them to be willing to alienate the AFL or an AFL club in defence of the SANFL if the situation warrants it. I'm not sure what the answer is but I think it's an issue.

IMO, Adam has done a good job with the SANFL, but you make a good point, Flaggie. The SANFL already subjugates our competition to the AFL and Under 18 requirements, so I think it might be a real problem area.

Very diplomatic manner in which you've shared your point F10 (One I very much agree with btw).

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club wishes to advise all its members, sponsors and supporters that James Boyd will not be continuing on at the Club in 2020.
In his 6 years at Oval Avenue, James played 96 of his 206 SANFL League matches, represented his State on 3 occasions and won the 2018 Perce Johns Medal as Club Champion.
On his decision to depart James said, “The Eagles have been a massive part of my life and this is one of the harder decisions I’ve had to make. I have no doubt this group will have the success it deserves in the near future.”
CEO Luke Powell said, “We wish James all the best for the future as he moves on to the next phase of his life. James has had a wonderful decorated SANFL career that he and his family should be very proud of. To leave SANFL level as a 200 game player, premiership player and Club Champion is very special achievement. During James’s time at the Eagles he was much loved and was highly professional in his application to his football. We thank James for his outstanding service.”
In addition to the departure of James Boyd, Jack Gaffney, Cooper Gaffney, Joseph Heinjus, Isaac Moller and Xavier Redden have advised the Club that they do not wish to play at SANFL level in 2020.
On their departure’s CEO Luke Powell said, “It is disappointing to lose some quality young men from our Football Club; however, we are confident some of them return to Oval Avenue in the near future

The Dogs have signed former Box Hill Hawks top up player Jai Nanscawen.
Looks to be a young, quick goal kicking midfielder who played TAC Cup with the Dandenong Stingrays.

Re: Ins and Outs - 2020
The West Adelaide Football Club is happy to announce the signing of two players from the Sydney Academy.
The first is the 195cm and 105kg key forward Hamish Ellem. Known to be incredibly quick for his size and very strong at ground level, Ellem will slot into our forward line perfectly. Hamish represented the Allies in the State U18 carnival in 2019 and was invited to the State Draft Combine. He has also played matches with Sydney’s NEAFL team in 2018 and 2019.
Our second recruit is Kyle Martin. Kyle is a half back with great kicking skills. He is known to be extremely clean with his ball handling and is a smart decision maker on the field. Kyle can play at both ends of the ground as a small defender or forward. He has been with the Swans Academy for six years and also played with Sydney’s NEAFL side in 2019.
Senior coach Gavin Colville spoke very highly of both players and is looking forward to them wearing the red and black in 2020.
More to come

He couldn’t make it at the eagles when they needed a player with experience
Or Sheedy said something no idea

We have to start a new era. Nason would not/should not be part of the future. A stop gap at the best, is not needed.

Don't know what happened at Richmond but he has been average at best since he came back.

Not 100% accurate, as Roy did pick him on one or two occassions.southern bulldog wrote:Fact is Lairdy wouldnt pick him regardless how well he went
Some players are just last in and first out and Ben was one of them when at the Dogs, more often than not.
